So anyone else feeling there is a trip to Wembley in the stars?

If so will it deflect from our promotion chances or help them?

I believe that it should help with momentum, plus this is a competition where we can't really make excuses based on opposition.

i fear a loss and an abrupt end to our wembley dreams

IF we do manage to win i feel it will only add momentum to our promotion push

The final is on April 7th. If the club linked Wembley ticket availability, beyond season ticket holders to those who booked tickets for the Tranmere, Oldham and Yeovil games; then the larger crowds for the league games - plus the 'feel-good' factor - could be most beneficial

I liked what Robins said about them after we played them last. Really patronising! Fergie does that sort of thing all the time, and more often than not it works. I think they'll either come to kick 7 shades of sh*t out of us or they'll try to play football - either way I don't think they'll be able to compete.

They did indeed. It wasn't nice to watch but it was effective against us. And that's why I think Robin's said what he said, he's being clever.

we are kinda shite with aggressive football

I really wish it wasn't on the tele. £5 a ticket usually encourages a 'spur of the moment' crowd but the fact it's on tele will work against that. With the CET stand closed and all the fans in one area, it could make it a bit livelier.

Has work started on the train station yet? That can't come soon enough either, the link between the Ricoh, city centre, Nuneaton and Leamington would improve attendances and the atmosphere I reckon, would be easier to go for a few drinks before games like this.

Our horrendous home form combined with the fact we've never won at Deepdale makes me a little doubtful. A strong home result is pretty imperative.

Just to expand on this for a moment.....

Now we are out of the FA Cup as expected, without the need for a replay and injury free from that I think we can try and strive for this JPT final without too much trouble expected. The momentum and confidence it would bring making the final will help swell the crowds and enhance the belief we may make the playoffs and have a second Wembley trip! The players will not be fazed by Wembley in a play off final should we get there in the JPT already? Could work in our favour.
We also have a few back from long term injury such as Thomas and there is plenty of depth available in our squad.

...if we lose to Preston then it's hell for leather towards the play off target but defeat in a week in two cups may be a body blow?
Just think Robin's is the man somehow. Can't see him allowing Thursday to slip away and will seize the moment for sure. The players know it and after a decent 2nd half at Spurs I don't think they have dwelled on that defeat.

The way people are talking on here its like they think Thursday is actually a real semi-final. You know if we win this game then there is another fixture we have to overcome before we get to the final?

Who's said anything that's implied otherwise?

This is true but THIS game is more important no offence to Crewe or Bardford (In the other Semi) but I think over two legs we have an edge against them.. Preston are a strong side of which everyone knows, as long as we can do them on the night (Which I am sure we will) then the engraver's can start etching Coventry City into that trophy!

Yep.

Next round, two legs and though we could get beaten by either team on a one off, you have to fancy us over two legs.

Why is everyone nervy? This is the cup. League home form goes out of the window. Both teams have to win these cups games. No playing for draws etc.

I am really excited and very confident!

Preston will view this as the worst draw they could have got

Agreed.

Going to be much harder to do what they did to us twice as well and they must know that.

They must expect us to wise-up this time out.

Dont expect PNE to change the way they play! A friend of mine at work is a big non league football fan and saw Stevenage under Westley quite abit and before the PNE league game he told me to look out for some of his tactics. My mate couldn't of been more spot on, they played exactly the way he described. So don't expect anything different from them on Thursday, i just hope we know whats coming now and won't fall into trying to playing thier game again.

Well if they are predictable that has to be to our advantage.

City most certainly are not.
