Sure, some of the signings are still settling in - but these stats show we are far and away the best at throwing away the game from winning positions. Top of the points lost with 7.

Championship Points Won/Lost

English Championship stats
www.soccerstats.com

On the first half we’d be promoted
On second half we’d be relegated

Championship - Half-time tables (first-half table, second-half table)

Half-time table, overall, at home and away in English Championship

Is that a mentality thing? Or fitness?

Possibly fitness to a degree. Eccles often seems to fade as games wear on.

Also, concentration.

Must be playing on their minds now that they can't see games out. Need to get that out of their system.

Disappointing if fitness. Last season, you could argue that cancelling the first 3 home games, probably meant we took a while to get up to speed on match sharpness. But we can't use that excuse this season.

Great point.

Possibly shows that we don't have the issues we think we may have. We certainly need to be better at closing games out. Possibly also a lack of subs/wrong subs/or lack of quality off the bench.

Genuinely think it's fitness but not the whole team, we've been successful in no small part due to the energy of Hamer and/or O'Hare and/or Allen. We're missing that. Palmer hasn't got it and Ayari doesn't appear to either.

You can add game management, subs and tactics to the list of potential "whys".

On two occasions we've missed late sitters which would have almost certainly clinched all 3 points.

I think Kelly and Eccles have looked absolutely worn out in most second halves this season. The fact we have no-one to bring off the bench to replace them means it's almost inevitable that we'll sink deeper and deeper and concede.

I really think we should start Ayari at CDM and have Kelly to bring on to freshen up the midfield when the 2 are tiring. Allen or Sakamoto should be playing in the 10 for now.

The thought of Ayari there genuinely terrifies me.
The thought of the lack of options we've got angers me.
We've really dug ourselves in to a hole.

On the fitness issue under MR we have consistently finished the season strongly with him , so while it is a concern short term I think we will finish strongly again

Much prefer it to the seasons when we started well only to sink like a stone after Xmas

Yeah, I thought Ayari tired very, very quickly. He looked shot in the 2nd half

We just have to hope it doesn't become a mental thing (if it hasn't already!). A self fulfilling prophecy.

If he has the fitness to start. Robins is clearly taking it slowly with him which is advisable given what he went through in the summer

If he's ready, I agree.
Though, and I say this as someone who has constantly defended Allen on here, when he's the one to pin your hopes on then you've got problems.

Oh yes exactly

like I said massive incompetence by robins and Doug king to not recruit adequately in the midfield area

Of course it maybe shows he's better than the naysayers claim...

And also better at following instruction.

Fitness should be up to speed by now it was only two season ago we were winning games in the last 15 minutes of games so what's changes?Eccles for my has no stamina and for a young professional footballer I find that shocking. We fade in the 2nd half most games so it's down to the manager to get this team fitter than any other team as we are a shade of what we we're last year .We have zero creativity with Eccles and Kelly and others injured so the only option is to put Yari in there trying to create something.I would give Wright and Simms a start up front together to see how it plays out but we no Godden is going to start every game even after that terrible performance on Monday. I also don't understand the desperate chase of Kitchin if he isn't going to play him.

He's definitely better than the naysayers say.
But he falls short whet it comes to getting us on the front foot quickly enough.
We've really left ourselves short not bringing in that type of midfielder, whatever the reason behind it
