Have the rules changed?

Nowadays there's so many where they throw it downwards into the ground without putting the ball behind their head.

The laws have not changed behind and over the head from the point where it left the field of play the referees and linesmen just don't seem to do their job.The law also states the thrower should STAND.

If you think it’s bad now wait in about ten years, my lad plays junior football and the throw ins are terrible and they just carry on.

Yeah I've seen some of them. I saw one where a kid jumped in the air when he threw it and they carried on.

Nobody is teaching or correcting them.

It’s such an easy thing to sort out but teams are more worried about foul throwing it miles.

So many foul throws at every level of the game. It’s basics. I have to say It’s a fairly antiquated section of the laws. It would make things easier if they allowed the player to throw it however they like. It’s like telling them they must take a corner with the inside of their foot. It would speed things up and I can’t really see a downside.

Throw in's are rules.Corner taking is coaching I've said enough about that.If you want to speed things up apply the rules we have goalkeeper holding the ball more than 6 seconds players not reteating 10 yards for free kicks I could go on but a booking would soon stop it.There again when officals can't see when a ball has gone over the line ie Norwich game yesterday what chance do we have.

Nah, that would basically turn throw ins into corners. If you’re throwing overarm players will quite easily be able to lob it into the box from the halfway line. The rule is there for a reason.

Time wasting by the keeper would be a direct free kick for me no keeper is going to be sent off for time wasting and they know it. I think years ago when it was steps Oggy got done and Pearce scored from the indirect free kick but Man Utd’s Leighton used to take about 20 and nothing ever happened.

Roll it in long throws are an ugly tactic (we rarely have a decent thrower since that bloke who’s name escapes me)

Agree on direct free kick soon sharpen their mind as for freekicks and 10 yards player getting booked for that would know their next foul hand their off.

Posted on another thread recently how poor we are with throw ins. We might as well give the opposition ours to take because we concede possession 9 times out of 10, it's pathetic.

As for the standard of throw ins in general in football a high percentage are foul throws and not taken anywhere near where the ball goes out.

Callum would run into space to run onto a throw when possible - any throw from da Silva just goes to the other team - the o ly decent ones are the long ones from Milan
