Cloud cuckoo land springs to mind, survival - it is not in our own hands and has not been for about 3 months which is why we are in the relegation zone for nearly the whole season.

Forget Blackburn Rovers breaking free, they got themselves a certain Mr Eric Black as Steve Keans number two to do that, we on the other hand are lumbered with a crap manager, make your own mind up

We're 3 points off with probably the best fixtures of all - how is that cloud cuckoo land. I'm not sure if we'll manage it but it's very possible.

Oh yeah also - imagine what the previous managers would have done with this bunch! Imagine what Cotterill would achieve with them!

Pointless comment others may have done better. You would struggle to find a manager who could do worse on our travels and as that will be the main factor if we go down thorn will have serious questions to answer. He can't hide behind anything if they end up with a mid table home record.

Cotterill's team scored 7 at Elland Road-until Wednesday, that was as many away goals as we had scored all season.

As you all know I'm been one of the more optimistic posters on here and nothing has changed. I have no problem with people saying our position is dire - which it obviously is - but I do have a problem when people say we are DEFINITELY down when we patently are not. Yes, we may get relegated but until that day arrives then I certainly believe we can and will pull clear.

A good indication of attitiudes was on the match thread last night...we go one down and we get all the "we are shit", "thorn is shit", "why do we bother?" comments. We equalise and the majority of those posters still struggle to say anything positive. Cardiff take the lead and again the same "we are shit", "we will definitely lose" comments are regurgitated. Again after the draw, some posters still seem reluctant to give us any credit. I just find that whole attitude really odd.

I'm sure if the penalty had gone in and we'd still drawn then some would be saying "yeah, but we only got a draw because we got a lucky penalty", etc. Read through the thread, it makes interesting (and infuriating) reading.

Sorry to be a party pooper, if the two teams below us win the game in hand they have over us then we are bottom , we will be relegated win lose or draw on Saturday irrespective.

I have accepted league one already and the reasons as why we will be there a few months back

Doncaster are 1 point behind. Pompey are 2 points behind. They win their games in hand, Doncaster will be 2 points ahead, Pompey will be 1 point ahead. We beat Pompey and we beat Doncaster we will be ahead of them

We have got to beat them first............ Based on the evidance I am not even sure we will beat Portsmouth this weekend, I would love us to win.

I never posted any Thorn out threads during the game last night, there is no point. The fact remains games are running out, we need to look at Bristol and see if we can catch them .

It seems Thorn is untouchable, my previous post about Blackburn and Eric Black was to demonstrate a move with the manager could have made a difference.

1. We will survive by getting four more points than Bristol do over the rest of the season. We will probably have to get something off both Portsmouth and Donny to do it but it is patently possible.

2. I have never understood how anyone can say AT is a poor manager. He has been working with sh*t. The loan players he has been allowed to bring in (almost too late, but luckily before the embargo kicked in) have made a difference. That's good management surely?

3. We will do it.

With the fixtures remaining and the way we have performed and got results lately only a fool would back us to go down with certainty.

IT'S WIDE OPEN GUYS...WIDE OPEN.

Well if we win on Saturday and Donny and Bristol fail to it will be for sure.

Bit concerned about our rivals strengthening though. Games coming thick and fast and as big a squad as you can have could be vital.

More like talk complete nonsense and be damned. You need to think things through when you compare Cotterill - with a squad like that to Andy Thorn - whose squad has been ripped apart and replaced by academy kids who weren't ready and free loans because our crap owners wouldn't finance proper signings.

Totally unreasonable.

I'm not saying he's God, I'm stating that his team put 7 past Leeds on their own turf. I'm tired of repeating myself when any criticism of the man meets over the top, SISU are the devil comments from yourself. Home form good, away form terrible. Good home form makes away form indefensible. SISU are not 100% to blame for everything wrong at CCFC.

And some of the more realistic ones of us that noticed our team from last year did not start this year. They were not replaced. AT brought kids through to cover the gaps. Then all he gets for his efforts is over the top critisism.

Fook me, he would have been better not getting results with the threadbare squad at home so the most thoughtless of us couldn't use this as an excuse of why he is so shite

I think that's the point. Regardless of the results or performances, he would have your unconditional support. That's not astute or objective behaviour - it is cultish.

You're reading my words as though they're a personal attack on the man. It is more thoughtless to completely absolve a manager of faults irrespective of whichever faults are apparent, than to offer a balanced view on his performance. Nowhere have I called for his head-I can't believe how easily people misinterpret posts on here sometimes.

Yes I think he missed the point as he usually does. I think his last 3 posts have at least avoided the tired child labour theme.

Spot on. The obsessive thorn worship knows no bounds. I don't know why people worry about him. When he leaves he can set up a cult that would give Sun Myung Moon a run for his money. Think of all the Thornies worshipping at his alter. The ricoh would be deserted - well there may be 5 more empty seats.

As George Michael one said "wake me up before you go-go". Sorry, wrong quote, "you've got to have faith".

No, what he said was "wa*k me off before you go go" but that's bye the bye.

If we escape relegation this year it will probably be considered the best relegation escape of all times for us. I hope we do but if it means we are in exactly the same position 12 months down the line, let's go down this year and compete with teams we stand a chance of beating on a regular basis. I'm sure that's half the problem with the players, they have little or no self belief coz we're either beaten every week or concede a lead in the last 10 minutes.

If we escape relegation, in my view, it would be the greatest escape of all time! 8 points behind at Christmas, no away win and I think we'd only won 2 games at Christmas as well?

I have never seen anyone say AT is faultless, but lost count of comments saying it is so. If we would have had the quality of Forests bench as choice for our 1st team then I would question him more. Why are we doing better now than the 1st half of the season? Nothing to do with the quality of our loan players is it????? We now have a link from midfield to the goal. We now have a couple of quality players that can change a game. If we had a player that could knock the ball in the back of the net with consistancy we would have climbed up the table.

Some of you will never see the good in us though. Just keep highlighting what you see as our worse points, i.e. AT.

The quailty of our loan players? Think you will find in saying that, that people will just throw back at you that Norwood was previously on loan at Scunthorpe and that Nimely was a flop last time he went out on loan.

Yes, they have both done very well, but let's not be painting them as Messi and Fabregas.

I think we are doing better because there was too much reliance on Juke, who would often drift out to the flanks and leave great big gaping holes in the centre and also because Thorn appears to have stopped making the big mistakes he was making earlier on. He does seem to be learning. Whether it is all too little too late we will just have to wait and see.

comparable sure but better?

1985 everyone else has finished and you have 3 games, you must win every one, that was pretty special. Plus that was to stay in the top flight. Good debate though

I was only 3 in 85 so I don't remember it! We haven't survived yet either so I should really bite my tongue! But if we did it this year, for me, it would be comparable with 97 at spurs. I know that was the top flight but this league is just as hard, if not harder and our squad, relative to each league, is weaker now then that one in 97, in my opinion?
