Thoughts from Saturday. (1 Viewer)

Haven't been on here over the weekend so apologies if im repeating comments already made. But just like to share a few of my thoughts from Saturday.

1) Need a goalscorer?
A point stressed all over the summer after the departure of you know who (no, not Voldemort), and mentioned several times on the phone in after the game. But i cant think of one clear cut chance we created on Saturday for a goalscorer to get on the end of. Even if we still had you know who playing for us, or even a worthy replacement, no one would have scored for us on Saturday simply because there wasnt a final killer ball made after albeit impressive/entertaining build up. People have also been saying that Leicester also didnt have many chances, but compared to us, i can think of Danns twice almost reaching balls across the box at the back post, and unmarked Nugent missing a fairly easy chance about 10 yards out. We carve out a few chances like that each game and have them missed, then we can really justifiably claim how we need an out and out goalscorer.

2) Hussey.
I rate Hussey, but was getting increasingly frustrated with his lack of movement on Saturday. He rarely lost the ball, playing passes inside/backwards, which is fine, but sometimes there were acres (exaggeration?) of space for him to run at the defence with the ball or get down the line and he just didnt want to get forward. When you compare this to Chritie and Keogh, when he moved to RB, they both mixed up passing and running with the ball. Just think Hussey could do with a variety of play.

3) Baker red card.
Definitely thought it was harsh at the time, it seemed to just be a standard slide that was slightly late and the ref was determined to make the numbers up after getting scared by Bamba. But seeing it on the football league show....went in hard, from behind (no innuendos please) deserving of a red card IMO. Poor discipline from Baker considering we were in control of possession ever since Leicester had been reduced to 10.

Overall, lot of positives to be taken from the game. And finally, is it worrying that im more nervous about the Bury match than the Blues one!?

i also noticed that none of the full backs were bombing on forward to the byline(CHRISTIE DID IT A BIT TBF)

last year under thorn it was great to see the full back and a midfielder double team by the byline, that did not happen on saturday, hope thorn sorts this out for tommrow and brum

I think that could have been down to the strength of Leicester and not wanting to leave the back line exposed. I did notice at times that the l/r backs were coming forward and leaving just the two cb's to hold the line.

possibly but i thought our new mantra under thorn was going to be ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK home and away?

i understand not giving away goals for fun but we did not threaten enough on saturday

still its little thigns that need to be changed, not huge upheavel which is a good sign, we will be a match for most teams at the very least,im very intrigued by how we will playa way from home though,i want to see blackpool no fear displays

Agree with 1) and 3), but a bit harsh on Hussey. Agreed it was one of his poorer games, but he was let down badly by a lack of support and movement. The glaring thing for me was that Sammy and Gael together were too deep-last season the midfield went 1-2-1, Saturday it was 2-2. The shape was, quite literally, wrong: we were a square instead of a diamond. And I think that part answers point 1).
