Doesn't seem as though Andy wants a big target man? Could this be a problem for us at set pieces etc?

Looks like he may be taking a leaf out of Eric Blacks book, small mobile players swapping around dragging big league one lumps out of position. We can always bring wood up for corners etc as he is pretty effective

Yeah true also if i'm wrong please correct me, even though Cody is small he got a couple of goals using his head? and if timing his jump correctly and positioning he can be a threat in the air?

all well and good until you have to defend corners against those same big lumps ......... we could be missing two central defenders soon (crainie, keogh) with cameron not yet fit......... will be good to see us going forwards for a change but we need strength and strengthening at the back

excactly, unless you rely on murphy coming out and collecting the ball everytime? to try and set up counter attacks with john fleck? good idea there , but your right, need two cantre backs who can strong and can be a arieal threat

Simon Gillet is a footballing CM and from a team that move the ball at all costs, very good player out of contract.....

He only played 10 games for them last season

He's 6ft 5, can play CM or CB. Height and versitility.

Rumours that MK Dons are looking at him, so perhaps not as dt as it sounds

attacking set pieces i don't see being a problem without a target man, Wood always looks dangerous, and depending who partners him at centre back you've got to get them in the box.

as for defending set pieces, hopefully this will stop all 11 players defending in our box, i don't rate Murphy on crosses but most of the time he's got 18/19 players in the box so can't come for the ball. leave at least 2 up on the half way line for the break, and force the opposition to leave defenders back, if you leave 2 up they'll keep 3 defenders back!!!

Wood hussey and Cameron are all tall, Clarke is also pretty handy in the air for a small lad. How tall is zinedine?

Is it only me who thought we played a lot of hoof last season? We played the ball around on the floor and back to murphy or a defender then hooooooof

We played a lot more hoof towards the end of the season when platt played, yes.

wasnt hoofball as such Nick but I tend to agree with you. We passed it around our box a lot ..... kept the ball in our half and then lost patience or got bored and hit a long diagonal ball from the fullback at Platt. In fact if Platt wasnt there we still hit the same outlet ball far too often.

"Attacking set pieces? What are they" asks Andy Thorn in the back ground.

While on the subject, I hope our direct free kicks improve this season

Got to, now that Sammy "Scored a couple a couple of free kicks in my first season, so will take them all now" Clingan has left.
