... or was that the player's final gift to Thorn

I think last night was the players sticking two fingers up to Thorn, the belief that it was a mark of respect for an outgoing manager is laughable.

So the players never wanted to play as good as they could for AT? They should be playing their best for CCFC as they are part of us, not whoever the manager is.

They certainly were not doing that in the last few weeks of Boothroyds tenure and clearly not for thorn either.

In an ideal world that would be the case, but as in all jobs, if you've got a manager you don't like (not saying the players didn't like Thorn) you tend to not perform as well as you can.

So now the players didn't like Thorn and not only that but last night's performance was a two fingers up to him?!

Ludicrous. And some of you still expect us to believe there's no agenda there...

Could have been the players have been playing for their first team places under a new manager perhaps? Or stepping up to the plate with a big team in town? Saying it was two fingers to Thorn is almost laughably silly.

Also, if the players couldn't be arsed and were playing so badly under Thorn, what about the first half against Bury, which was (by all accounts. I admit that I wasn't there) a very solid, professional display?

Except everything coming out of the squad was that they loved Thorn - you know, the man who scouted them in the first place?!

Love I think not anyway respect is normally the key trait that creates excellence in performance.

Let's hope he doesn't pinch any of them when he is a manager elsewhere.

Never mind. Maybe in another 5 years or so this anti AT business will be finished with.

the reality is probably that all the sentiments expressed above contributed to last nights performance. It simply isnt realistic to think that anyone was 100% for or against AT, it isnt reasonable to think that all felt they owed AT something or conversely that they were sticking two fingers up to spite him. He sourced some signings not others, he didn't do the deals to actually bring the players in, he tried to build a decent squad but so did others. Don't think many would doubt his skills as a scout.

I know he isn't long gone but isn't it time we put AT behind us ? He did good things for the club but he also had some major deficiencies too. Just makes him human, he did his best but in the end just wasn't good enough in my opinion for what is required. Wish him well but time to move on ........ ?

will be good not to see the circular arguments on AT if I am honest

Thorn comments will never go away. They are the new "Gray's gone", or "Jim the Gateman said..."

I think this forum will implode if arguments about Thorn are dropped. They have appeared in so many threads and gone round in circles just as many times. He was Chief Scout and Manager at the Club when we picked up some gems. Also some not so good players. As who scouted who is 98% guesswork and vague press comments sometimes used to prove agendas, I think this is another debate that can be put to bed as we see if we can agree on what we now see with the players and the Club we all support.

I'm curious - when did Thorn getn the opportunity to see these guys play or train?

As Chief scout you DO NOT go to games - thats why you have other scouts! They also have spotters at all levels. Its very easy to pick a player from the shortlist as thorn had to do, but credit has to go to the scouts and spotters under him!

You give far too much credit to Thorn!

Thorn is a good Scout, he did bring in some players in the Summer, maybe a sweeping statement to say they are quality, yet to be fully seen after a few games for sure how they work out.

It is not a sweeping statement though to say that AT was a poor manager given his track record of no tactics during a game. Anyone who has any understanding of football could see that. He knew it and creamed in a good salary whilst in post and I cant blame him for that.

Good luck Andy for the future.
