I think he could discover talents like Keogh, Gunnarrsson, Fox, Tabb, Nimely if he had money to bring them in.

I don't think that SBG was claiming his mangerial talents are suddenly brilliant, more that Thorn has a good eye for players. Which I don't think can be denied.

This is a point I made last night on another thread. Say what you will about AT as a manager. But there is no question that he is a very good scout :claping hands:

It isn't people changing their minds. I think it's more that the people who thought he was doing a great job despite sod all resources still think he is, and enjoy a chance to shoot back given that every loss leads to about 30 boring "Thorn Out" threads, some of which are mainly concerned with his weight!

Still don't see how he can be doing a great job with us being pretty much rock bottom and 7 points adrift since Christmas.

If he keeps us up then he can maybe be labelled with having done a great job.

Just how many points adrift at the bottom would we need to be for him to have been doing a bad job?

No one on this thread has stated that he's doing a good job. This thread is about his eye for talent. If you want to talk about his managerial ability then please do it on another thread.

Case for the prosecution.

I agree that he can find good players, I think with Nimely and Norwood that anybody who is getting a new contract at Man City or Man Utd will stand out in our team and make an impact so it is more hats off to whoever managed to wangle them coming here

He has found some gems like Fox, Dann, Westwood but then you have the Bell, Baker, McIndoe, ROD who haven't been quite as good so it is horses for courses. I have never doubted him as a scout, just as a manager
