Andy Thorn insists he wants to lead Coventry next season - regardless of which division the club finds itself.

Putting personal thoughts aside, do you think the board will give him that extended stay?

I will say not. I am thinking that they will probably believe that a 'better' manager would be able to do better in spite of continuing cuts to the quality of playing staff.

Also think his comments will have done him a fair bit of damage with the board and owners.

Do think that if we had any money to splash out on anything next season, it would be on a manager rather than players and the board would simply expect a better job from a more experienced manager managing the same group of players (minus those leaving of course)

As I say, don't want this into a pro-Thorn/anti Thorn thread, or you all to dicuss how you feel about Thorn yourselves, just whether or not the current board will allow him to be in charge next season or not

I think he blew it after the Millwall game. If he had not, and if SISU were to remain in charge, they may well have kept him in place. But now, I think he has effectively signed his own death warrant, so to speak.

I think he will stay. I don't think Sisu care about what he said on tuesday.

If John Clarke is using club money on piss ups I guess they stopped caring long ago.

I don't think that Sisu will offer him a new contract after what he said at the end of the Millwall game.

I think that if the club does get taken over then Thorn will stay.

IMO I don't think he is the man to take us forward, though i do think he is 100% right blaming the old board (Ken, Brody and Clouting) They should of allowed him to wheel and deal in June for the season and they didnt as a result we are where we are!

Thorn quote next season, "we had 57 attempts on the yeovil goal thats enough to win two games in this league" after a 0-3 defeat..

Did AT make his comments about SISU after the millwall game knowing they will be gone soon? Now he is letting the new owners know he would be happy to stay on. If anyone at the club would know what is going on I would expect AT to know.

Andy thorn done well with what he had to work with,I think some stability and fresh owners we would see a better managed team,we have to start giving managers time and get behind them a bit rather than expect them to perform miracles

Didn't you just know it!

I just have this sneaky feeling that our owners will think they can behave in exactly the same manner as this season next year, but believing that a good manager would work wonders!

If the board allow him to do what he's good at ie scouting some excellent players, and then....and here's the radical bit SISU....the club actually buys/signs them, then i have every confidence that we will do well with AT.
He's a nice guy, proven scout, and a half decent manager when not being shafted by the incompetent nobodies that sadly run our club.

For my family this is great news. It saves the budget £1,000. No way I am going to watch any more dross and listen to his self serving rubbish after every defeat.

I won't be buying a season ticket if SISU are still here simple Thorn I don't think he will have it in him to take us back up on an even shitter budget.

He'd have it in him to sign a new contact whatever the budget. He's probably preying for no takeover. Longer sisu stay is utopia for thorn.

kduffy...he's on a 1 year rolling contract, so he doesn't really need a new one...he'll always have 1 year to go, ad finitum (or 1 year to be paid off)

Nope. Hardly any rolling contracts are of this nature. Both sides have to agree an extension or he's off with nothing. There will be proection clauses prior to the end of the contract period but after the annual date there will be nothing.

I'm the otherway. I don't think I can face putting anymore money in the one-way street sisus pocket. I pay for a ticket it goes to them nothing comes back the other way. Not even communication......

back end of last season with a bit more quality and depth he got us on a good run and deserved the job this season if he had the same squad this season and was able to bring in the players he got then i think we would have done very well as the players he got in have done very well.
