Now its decided which division we will play in next season if Sisu stay in charge these are the most likely candidates for the managers job.

Thorn- has made some mistakes this year but still cutting his teeth in the roll. Badly let down by our owners in terms of playing staff. If you look at our previous three managers have been experienced, had lots of money to spend on players had bigger squads and only achieved slightly better league positions.

Rioch- Has done tremendous job with the academy bringing through players that have been fast tracked to the first team because of Sisu's financial constraints.

Carsley- Good player and pro two playing stints with Cov and now a coach with the academy.

Summary - My oppinion only and I know it will differ with some on here and is open to debate.
We are not going to have a lot of options, top managers are not going to be queing up to manage Cov in league one so we have to be realistic. I would give Thorn another year we need some consistency and I feel he deserves a second chance and lets see what he has learnt from this season. I would also be happy though if Rioch was given the chance or maybe work along side Thorn with the first team. Rioch has to get all the credit for our current success at academy level. In terms of Carsley if Rioch gets promoted to the first team then he should get promotion within the academy but I wouldn't want him anywhere near the first team untill he has earnt his stripes with the academy any calls for him to be first team coach would be wrong especially promoting over Rioch.

Bit of a non-starter this one, cos the talk about Carsley and Rioch was only if Thorn was sacked or resigned.

If neither happens it will still be Thorn anyway.

I've no problem discussing it. If I only have those options I'd say Thorn if his coaching team teach movement off the ball!!!!!!
With that in mind, I'd say have Rioch as Thorn's assistant - Thorn's doing 2 jobs so it's not out of the question, and if Rioch's done so well with the youngsters, he should be advising Thorn as they come into the first team.

I definitely think Harrison needs to go. What did he say on CWR after the match by the way? I saw Geoff interviewing him after the end of season awards.

None of them. I would like a foreign young manager from spain or france. They all seem to be good with kids

But we wouldn't be able to make sense of what they say in post match interviews.

... oh, hang on.

First thing fans need to take on board is what we now are A THIRD DIVISION CLUB we are not going to get a young foreign manager or a Curbishley or Billy Davies. So lets stick with what we have include Carsley if we can if thats what he wants and see how things transform. Thorn made errors and i'm not listing them on here but hopefully he will learn from his mistakes, if he doesn't then sack him. This isn't someone who feels sorry for a lame duck but unless we bring in someone who can completely clear the decks of coaches and players and start afresh why bother.

When some of you say clear the decks, new faces, fresh ideas, does this mean dismantling and changing the academy the only part of our club working and getting some success. i personally think we should build from the academy success not dismantle and start again. I have had enough of changing everything with the weather. I would like tis to be a start of a dinisty. we have to stick with a playing football ethos. The teams who get back and stay in the premier are the ones playing good football from academy upwards.

To be honest ill never get the carsley hype. Surely Rioch is the mastermind behind HIS success, besides Thorn has proven with the players he can do the job

I'd have none of the aforementioned. Our new life in league 1 needs a fresh start with a manger who will provide the experience we need to get back out of it.....we can't start testing new managers again or continuing with failed ones.

One thing for sure like the changes to image/kit/song and all the rest we need some inspiration. Money may well remain tight so inspirational leadership is a must to give you an extra edge in the same way Wise brought us on the pitch.

It really is a tough one ... changing managers haven't helped us much though we have tried so many times over the past 5 years.

So I would probably go with Thorn and have Harrisson removed. Carsley as assistant manager? Maybe give it a shot.
What we need more than a new manager is a leader on the pitch.
Herminator maybe?

These quotes Pax are no help at all without ideas or solutions to back them up.
In terms of experianced managers am I wrong but weren't the last four managers before Thorn experianced and where did that get us ?

What has he proved? He knows how to get relegated? Has to go - looks like a busted flush and ludicrous to pretend he can motivate the players.
