ANDY THORN insists the hunt for a striker to bolster Coventry City's attacking options goes on - despite turning down the opportunity of signing a foward on Thursday because he wasn't match-fit.

The City boss insists he'll only make a dip into the loan market if a player can improve his Sky Blues squad and boost their hopes of beating the drop.

He said: “I had two strikers due to come in and then was told they weren’t for various reasons.

"I was offered a striker yesterday but he has been injured all season and only played one game, so I don’t fancy getting another club’s player fit because I don’t think that will improve us.

“So I will get my head down and try to get someone else. I’ve got other targets in mind.

Can't argue with that really. Although I really do think we need to get someone in, we shouldn't be too desperate and get someone in who won't or can't play.

Agreed if he is not fit to play he is of no use to us at this stage.

We already have Eastwood here who isn't fit to play so lets not double the number - at Present Platt, Nimley and Sheff are doing OK so there is no need to panic buy. Lets get the right one rather than just get one just to appease some moaners - lets face it these people would only then moan that whoever we got in wasn't Aguero or Van Persie.

Dont see how anyone can argue with AT's logic on this one. Correct decision imo

Lets' get McDonald fit. That would give us the much needed extra option.

Eastwood was spotted chasing a pony down the A5 yesterday that had got loose - finally cornered it in the BP garage with help from his Traveller mates - apparently its the fastest he's moved all season. Expect an announcement that he's tweeked a calf muscle today!

Sure it wasn't a cow rather than a horse if it was a calf muscle?

Depends who it was I guess. If it was Tevez he hasn't played for a while...... If it was a League 2 striker then no thanks!

Would hope it would have been a Premier striker to be honest. Also depends how unfit he is.

Educated guess here, was it Dave Kitson? Pompey need to get people off their wage-roll and he's been out all season and has just played one game coming back from injury.

Looks the sort of player Thorn's after too, given our well-publicised courting of Hulse

Probably not a bad shout to be honest MMM. Difficult to argue with Thorn's reasoning here as most posters (for once) seem to agree.

Not in a million years thanx, he hates us and the feelings mutual! Maybe norwood or nimely could recommend a player from their respective clubs!

It's just a ploy. There was never anyone lined up, just another article to appease fans (in my opinion of course). Should there be truth in it, fair play to Thorn for not accepting someone's rejects just to help them get fit

As I understand it we were offered Kitson earlier in the window but his wages of £20k a week rather scuppered the deal - Ever wonder why Pompey are in the shit? £20k for Lawrence, Kitson, etc
