We're making around 900k from the deal, if we keep him for this season we make nothing. You have to think from a business sense. The rumoured £1 million fee could pay the wages of 3 or 4 new signings.

People are realistic, we're in League 1 (Keoghs too good for that), we have no money, he's got one year left on his current deal, he's not going to sign a new contract, clubs are hopefully offering a decent amoutn for him

Sad but a no brainer

In 12 months our CB position has lost Keogh, Cranie, McPake and Turner and we've been relegated.

Yes we still have an inconsistent Cameron, an injury prone Wood and some unknown Frenchie who has barely ever played but "looks awesome" on the basis of a pre-season friendly against a non-league side.

Excuse me for being a bit untrusting on this one, but I would say that an experienced centre half is an absolute must. Preferably a leader and preferably a british player who has played in this league before and knows what it's all about.

Easy fella, Napoleon has been out of power for some time; we're mates with the cheese-eating monkey-surrenderers now!

I suppose we're all going to be called "pathetic scum that are killing the club by letting SISU walk all over us" now?

Would you rather he left for a fee so a replacement could be brought in or just let him stay for a season and get no fee?

Easy, stay for a season and get no fee: this year is our best chance of getting out of L1, and we have more chance with Keogh than without. His transfer fee will make not a pin-prick in our debts-sorry, SISU's debt to SISU:jerkit:-and we will not see a penny of it re-invested in the side anyway. I'll take a top player over no player and no money any time!

And where do you get your information from ?
I'm questioning how do you know what the fee will be ?
And also the small matter of the sell on fee to Carlisle that I don't believe you have calculated for

Not only did we know the odds were he would be sold, but as recent as a few weeks ago not many of us believed many if any players would be brought in. I was shouted down when I said I thought some players would be brought in that were out of contract.

On the other hand some certain people on here will moan and complain whatever happens

Well we've already rejected 800k so it makes sense that he will go for a few higher than that, and we only payed around 100k for him through tribunal. But no, I did not take into account the sell on fee which if I recall correctly was around 15%? Meaning we'd probably make around 700k from the deal which is still enough to finance wages of a few players.

Or pay the rent for about 6 months if they decide to pay any

What would you do then, keep keogh get promoted then let him go for free or,let him go for 700k miss out on promotion and the 4mill(i think)that championship football will bring? It's all hypothetical i know. As for keogh's wages being made available to bring in another 4 faces, how much do you think the guy earns lol,we signed him from carlisle,he won't be on silly money.

Keogh has gone because we were relegated.

We were relegated because our owners did not invest in the team.

What has that got to do with Thorn?

Some people are totally oblivious to that sbb. Fishers bounce back budget is a load of bollox,as far as i can work out sisu havent actually invested a penny themselves this summer, its come from released players wages etc.

And who pays the players wages?

We will be running at a loss still. But yet you say they are not investing any money. The sales made will go towards any loss made over the season.

Why don't we try and buy loads and loads of players that we can't afford? Seems to have worked at Pompey.

Yes worked wonders. 2 relegations and a points deduction to start next season.

Looks to me that Pompey may very well be in L2 the season after next as they are getting rid of their 8 senior players and taking their trialists and kids to Spain. Mind you it's a little surprising that they are heading to Spain in the first place. However they are going to do well to compete next year.

Yet some still want us to spend money we don't have. I see this season as the one that can change our future for the best. It would be the first time it has happened for many years.

far from SISU's biggest fan, but these players we have signed (4 of them so far), surely they will have wanted a signing on fee, agents fees etc.

Whist there might not be a "transfer" fee inolved, you can be sure the club have spent money (other than wages) getting these 4 in !

Im willing to be the 500k we got from Bigi wouldnt cover the fees we have spent getting these 4 into the club

Sisu are killing this club. Look at the mess we are in ffs. Scraping around here there and everywhere trying to find a freebie that 'might' be a good signing. We are still well and truely in the shit and its because of Sisu and there drastic cost cutting measures last season.

Mifsud got nearly £200k when he joined as a "signing on fee".

Plenty of clubs were in for him, and his transfer fee was virtually nothing, so he got a decent amount of money to join.

I am sure that would have happened with Fleck !

As far as im concerned keogh is going nowhere. You'd think thorn would of learnt his lesson with these muppets in charge. He's either stupid of has been taking lessons in bullshit from shitsu.

Don't understand people... It was obvious we would have a hard time keeping Keogh, he is better than league one we all know that and when you get relegated your top players often get replaced with unknown ones! We have got some good defensive options still in the transfer pipeline and for that you should be happy!
We will be fine without him!

skybluesteve76.....
Every decent player we've had has gone for nothing or peanuts, so what's the difference? If Keogh stayed we could have a good chance of going straight back up. If we did that we would be able to offer a better deal to him in the Championship thereby keeping him. Makes perfect sense to me. Pity SISU didn't move their arses 5 years ago eh?

You say we would have a good chance of going straight back up but there is no evidence of that. Our goals against column may not be adversely affected by his departure but goalscoring is an issue. Losing £750,000 in our perilous financial position is a huge issue - it would mean we cannot get other players in.

Also you have not factored in the de motivation of the player who wants to leave and how that may impact on future performances.

The club has been massively criticised for letting players leave for free - we can't have it both ways.

Economics mean he has to go.
