COVENTRY City boss Andy Thorn has slammed Twitter rumours that he has quit.

The Sky Blues boss was bombarded with calls late on Wednesday night after gossip gathered pace that he had resigned.

But, asked if he had gone this morning, he said: “No chance! There’s no way in a million years that I’m resigning – that’s the coward’s way out.

“There is no truth in this what-so-ever. I’m a massive fan of the club and I’m here to do a job.

“It’s a challenge and I am determined to succeed.”

Thorn is particularly angry that the rumour mill started questioning his relationship with players and the fact that people put two and two together when he didn’t answer his phone.

He explained: “I was flooded with calls at 11pm last night. It’s absolutely ridiculous and someone is doing a proper stirring job here.

"I have spoken to all the boys and nothing could be further from the truth.”

It's good that AT has stamped on these rumours as early as possible. Perhaps now he will be left in peace to get the squad ready for Saturday.

Could even act as a motivating factor if the players are behind him ?

Or maybe the players are going up to Thorn saying "We love you boss" and " We're 100% behind you Thorny" "We will back you to the hilt" ........... only then to come out behind his back with "What a tosser" "The bloke's clueless" "I wish they'd sack the fooker."

It's not hard to see last night how these were just rumours. It's the ones who actually believe rumours before proof who get all worked up and try to convince everyone else that the rumours are true. It happens too often.

Thon: Official Statement.

http://www.ccfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10269~2480481,00.html

CCFC Manager Andy Thorn said: "I would like to go on record to dismiss the speculation surrounding my position at Coventry City Football Club.
"I am as committed as ever to bringing success to the club, improving the players and the team, while at the same time playing attractive football. The squad of players is equally united in the same desire.
"The rumours that I am considering my position are both unfounded and malicious. I am not sure where they come from but they are clearly not emanating from people who love the club.
"I hope that will put to rest this nonsense and allow and players and I to get on with our jobs."

Delighted to hear this. Lets face it, with the limited resources he has, he's doing a decent job. Thorny's Sky Blue Army!!

like the old saying goes no smoke without fire. if you want to be fickle and believe all is rosey within the camp then carry on. i believe what i heard from my friend. i never once said thorn was leaving just like macca that players are losing respect and there is unrest

I'm not fickle....i do believe there is unrest, it's just i think the unrest stems from SISU's conduct as opposed to what AT is/isn't doing. There is no way that all the going's on off the field and boardroom antics are not gonna unsettle players they are.

I honestly believe that AT is the kind of guy that will stand up for and protect his players especially the youngsters, you say you have a player that is saying different. If that is fact i cant argue as he must know better than i, just for now i am inclined to take it all with a pinch of salt.

No offence M&D, a lot of it stems from the fact my heart wants to believe we can get through this. I would love us to be sold MR T given some money and then we can properly judge his performance beacuse at present he doesn't stand a chance...does he?

I was not stirring and like the football we play under him. I don't want thorn sacked. If he's a Good manager then the players need sorting. I have no inside info at the club as a rule. I was just passing on what I was told by someone at the club....just a fan who for once heard some shocking stuff. I'm gonna just get pisses up before the game and pretend all is rosy!!!! I'm no too sure thorn could say anything else...??

Anyone noticed on the poll they have on the CT website about what worries you the most? It seems according to them you can either be worried about on-field problems, or not be worried at all! According to them, there are no off field problems to be concerned about!

I believe the players are still behind Thorn, obviously morale is low at the moment and at all football clubs across England they will be disagreements and confrontations nearly everyday especially when morale is low. As long as issues are dealt with and not left to build up then it is a healthy thing for a football club.

So let me get this straight. The club release an official statement to say the manager hasn't quit, but wont release a statement to say the ceo has?

I'm confused why people are blaming Thorn? Has everyone forgot that we are blaming SISU for everything, I heard they were also behind the Iraq War. The bastards, SISU Out!

my mate who went to barnsley heard off a very good source that the players have no respect for thorn.

after the ipswich game he told the players they were unlucky and if any had something to say. gary mc said yes sort the midfield out, since then bigi not played a game. also he heard the players think thorn is too nicey nicey to them and they have an easy ride.

also something about juke been in middlesbrough on deadline day and had a medical done and dusted but had a call last minute off thorn and told him the deal was not going through

there is more but wont say on here

What's the point in protesting against sisu outside the ground? Isn't the whole idea about them and the shite board hearing it?

Should probably not go to the game at all then and head to London.

Or Portugal.
