You have to admit it is common sense, he did the same against Palace by not bringing somebody on to tighten it up at the back like McPake who would put his body on the line and the ball in row z if there was danger!

The last few minutes when we are holding on it was blatantly obvious we were going to lose against palace the same as it was today when it was 1-1. Every week if we are 1-0 none of the fans are confident we will still win it. Coventry are the in play betters dream when they are 1-0 to bet them to lose.

ANYWAY.....

Coming away from the ground i heard a lot of people blaming the ref and say Burnley should have been down to 8 men before the red for us. I thought the Ref got 95% of it right today and in all honesty thought he'd gone unnoticed until the red.

It was our insistence on defending the 1-0 lead. Whether it was tactical or youth and inexperience who knows.

Whatever it was it was so frustrating as Burnley were there for the taking. They are the worst side who've been to the Ricoh this season. I was so angry when they got the second. We'd played so well in the first 60mins.

Special mention to Hussey for that cross for the goal. Top drawer stuff...

Referee had a good game despite the decisions against us. Thought hussey was man of the match myself along with Cody.

The only decision i didn't get was Murphy's booking for time wasting when the ball boy hadn't even given him the ball yet?

to some fans it doesnt matter if we're top of the league or floating around at the bottom, we still seem to want to go against the manager.

im not saying that thorn is not making mistakes, but he wont get all the decisions right all of the time, no manager does.

Don't understand your argument. When Thorn gets it right I praise him and when he gets it wrong I critisise him. How else do you wish me to be? :thinking about::thinking about: How strange.

Don't know how we can blame the ref. He got all the major decisions right including bigi. I thought Burnley were shocking but Howe made the changes and it changed the game for them. Murphy made 3 great saves again today.hes looking a great replacement more I see him

The ref is being used as a scapegoat by Coventry fans, he had a decent game today. We lost because thorn didn't make subs when they were needed. Plus we can't defend and when we have possession we don't use it going forward and creating chances. The fact that cwr were only talking about the ref shows that the real problems are being covered up

M +D i'd call it a good ref performance if he was consistant ,about 15 mins before end ,one of theres made a 2 footed lunge on the edge of our box ,in closer contact of the opposingf player than Bigi's3 handball decisions which were'nt flagged that he cound'nt see ,2 given against us ,one benefited them ,THe foul on clingan on the touchline was high ,barely a word Juke being fouled, cynical fouls and tugs when we broke across the halfway line two or three times second ,not a word,6 mins injury time ,he set his mind agaist us from 20 mins out ,lost his objectivity ,just like me .

The ref was very poor today, but he did get the major decisions right. There were just loads of little incorrect ones unfortunately.

I agree he did make some strange decisions but the major ones he was right.

Another saturday evening ruined by Cov.
I want Andy Thorn to be our manager for this season and the future. The problem is he is learning his trade when he has a mediocre team at best,a team that was only going to struggle from the outset. This team will get better given time, but time we don't have, but the points were losing late on due to his inexperience, may be very costly come next May.
We all know that come May a single point will most likely be the difference between safety or relegation.

I have been saying for weeks that this side has all the look of relegation about them.

We play nice football, but nice football doesn't win matches. Just how many clear chances did we have on goal today? Compare that to Burnley.

We are scoring at an average of less than a goal a game and we simply have no cutting edge. If you don't score goals you are in big trouble even if you play the prettiest football in the entire world. 2 wins in 13 games tells you everything you need to know and that is that we are a poor side. You can have all the possession and lovely football possible, but if you don't score goals there is only one way the season can go.

I think they improve with every game this season and looking like a real football team, at the start of the season they looked very poor but going on they are gelling very well together. Shame the turnout is so bad really being a decent size city.

(my first season ticket and hope not my last)

Exactly especially the amount of give me's we present teams. Tuesday was 1 point gained. Today was 3 points dropped. Bit like 1 step forward then 2 steps back. We need at least 4 points from the next 2 because after that It's going to be a struggle

Burnley scored two after sending off. O'Donavon couldn't do anything because he had to play in midfield because of this. Wasn't Thorns tactics that changed the game.

Was you at the game? It was 1 1 when bigi got sent off. And even before the sending off Burnley had all the play.

Teo people made grave errors today; Bigi, for obvious reasons, and Thorn for his naivity. If he hasnt twigged now what needs to be done to try and hold a lead, then we need to be worried. His one change was like for like. Why? If he wanted to change it upfront i feel Juke would have been the better option as he was knackered after being clattered early in the 2nd half. Why did he not change the midfield around? Why did he not bring a defender on to try and control the pressure that Burnley were confidently throwin at us? If there was anything other than the red card that changed the game, it was the shrewd sub made by Eddie Howe. He's still pretty new to the managing side of things, albeit hes still more experienced that Thorn, but that sub was the difference between the two teams today imo! They wanted it more. I like Thorn, but i do worry about his naivity!

But Thorn could have changed the game, or at least have tried to change the game by deploying differing tactics, i.e. making substitutions to try and alter the balance of superiority.

I would say we had 3 clear chances all of them fell to Mcdonald in the first 60 mins. Up to 60 mins I would say Burnley didn't have any clear chances, then after they had quite a few chances off the top of my head Austin missed two sitters and Murphy made a few saves and then there is the 2 goals as well.

I think we expect too much from a scout as manager,if we were flush AT would not be in the hotseat so any blame is not his fault in my eyes.

Completely agree Otis. Our lack of goals is our biggest concern. We should have put them to bed in the first half today.

The biggest plus we can take is that McDonald got off the mark. We need him to rediscover the sharpness and confidence he had in front of goal at Gillingham as soon as possible. It may have been at a lower level but I'm sure he'd have put that one-on-one he had in the first half away last season.

Dead right. This was a grim day. Played OK in the first half but we did not react to Burnley's formation changes in the second half. Even if Mcdonald was injured replacing him with O'Donavan was ludicrous. O'Donavan does nothing. He cannot hold the ball up and contributes zero - actually I think he is one of the worst footballers toplay for the team.

The midfield were over-run badly once we were down to 10 men and it was just stupid not to get Deegan on. Christie was struggling for once to contain the crosses coming in and Cameron should have replaced him with Keogh on at right back.

Thorn got it wrong. Outdone by a superior manager who could adjust his tactics - not by a superior team as they were poor.

I have mentioned this before today but the one thing Thorn had to do regardless was after the sending off of Bigi he needed to bring on Deegs or a defensive player.

I have no clue what AT was thinking.

I have a lot of time for Thorn considering the circumstances at the club, but on the other hand you have to get some basics right in tactics during a game changing moment. My big concern is that Thorn is learning the managerial game will we can't afford tactical mistakes. We have lost far too many points and some of this I am afraid comes down to tactics and direction.

Did anyone think that Mcdonald looked pretty sharp today? I know he was 1 on 1 in the first half and the keeper saved it, but after his goal (which was fantastic commitment) I thought he looked like securing the game for us. Juke picked up a knock and might as well have been in the changing room for at least half the match.

I did not understand ROD for Ronald at all. Platt for Ronald maybe, why was Platt left out today?

... and here is another thought... an interesting one in my eyes.

Thorn goes on about how grateful he is to be given a chance etc. No problem with that...

But because he is so grateful, does he have the balls to challenge Ken and SISU for players he really needs. Or is he not going to upset them just to keep himself in a job?

SISU have it there way as well because they know he will not challenge their authority one bit as they gave him a chance as a manager.

Of course he will not challenge them - they are the only people who would give him a manager's job. He cannot lose - blame them if it goes wrong - move on to better things if it goes OK. Though I am hyper-critical I felt some sympathy at the CWR interview. He knew he got it wrong and it was all rather uncomfortable.

But we cannot afford to have him make these basic mistakes.

I can forgive Bigi for being sent off... he is just starting out. But can we afford for a manager to make basic mistakes? You are down to 10 men and lose a midfield player...

Oh well... can't change the result now. So fecking frustrating this season.

Deegan needed to come on for Thomas before the sending off and he needed to come on for ROD after the sending off. Simples

He should'nt be hanging Bigi out to dry ,blaming him for the first goal ,then the sending off ,he was far more tolerant when it was Baker

No I thought his attitude to a guy on his 18th birthday (apparantly) was shameful. I think it was defensiveness - he knows he screwed up.

If he is hanging bigi out to dry for today then he will be losing my support. It was thorn at fault today and not bigi
