He's using the old chestnut ball and brown 'first game comment' as an excuse. Why? Because he don't want to be seen slagging them off. Same applied for the trialists and Deegan (this season) but weren't mentioned in the quote.

He hasn't tho. He excused some and praised one. Not hard to work out who the remainder are.

It's frustrating because only the other week he said don't judge the friendlies there only for match practice. Now he's public ally saying performances do matter?

Going back on his word?? Not the first time eh

if you read the whole thing thought he said that even though it's a friendley we shouldn't have performance's like that.

he didn't make him the scapegoat he just said it was reckless challenge and he shouldn't have done it if there going to learn you need to be told when your in the wrong.

And did he play much after? And when he did, did he look the same player as before?

I mentioned on here back in November last year Bigi and Thorn fell out and Bigi would leave but had replies of 'Bigi won't leave, he loves Cov'

It is funny how he also thinks he is never to blame for anything either.

It must be pretty confusing and frustrating playing for him.

So performances do matter? Unlike his comment before saying performces don't matter.

The trialists are ON TRIAL. The entire point of everything they do is to be judged and held under scrutiny.

Behave. He excused every 'senior' player in that article and pinned blame Soley on the youngsters who will know doubt be on loan at Nuneaton this season because its there standard at present. Thorn has a tendency to be nicely nicey to the older lot and very harsh on the youngsters. Not anti thorn more a observation.

If he had handled Bigi better then we would have seen more from him last season. Instead he rotted away on the bench.

deegan, hussey they weren't excused he's simply saying it might be about fitness but we shouldn't be as shit as that

Why is he judging them in a game which is pretty much the second string and players who are playing their first game? It doesn't make any sense, why not use them with the first team?

he was sent off means he was banned for 3 matches  then you have to get match fitness another match or so. then deegan was playing well.

It's a combination of matches and training, which is clearly why he's willing to give the striker another game.

he said after the scotland tour that it's time to get our shape and the team ready. he's saying if those players play shit against nuneton then what will the be like against yeovil.

So why put such a weak team out if in your words 'its time to get shape and team ready'

Another contradiction from Thorn?

maybe he thought he might as well get the players fit (which is getting the team ready) now rather than later. simple.

hahaha ok... lets all pretend Thorn is a great man manager who gets the best from the players and motivates them like all good managers do.

That better?

amazing really. If he'd said that the result or performance didn't matter it was about fitness then those moaning at him now would be moaning about that.

I'm sure all you blokes on a forum know how to handle a professional football team...

I don't pay too much attention to what he says anymore. It has always been full of talk, but he doesn't seem to work on anything to sort it out. He likes to throw in a few quotes as well to keep the people happy who believe he is 'one of us'.

My favourite quote is 'that's not what we're about'. He must have said it at least 30 times last season. Does anyone know what 'we are about'?

Maybe we should put an anonymous keyboard warrior in charge, eh?

And Thorn is doing a great job handling a professional football team eh (3rd Tier of English football)

Why say something then do/say the opposite?

Like mentioned the team out saturday was made up MOSTLY of youngsters and newcomers. So why such the public slating?

No Torch. Like i've said before. Come to the Wheatsheaf before a game and i'll happily talk football without the keyboard.

wheatsheaf? You're not another of LBBs personalities, are you?

I don't remember people being too concerned for "the kids" when Hartlepool beat us at home in the LC.

As for Thorn, he deserves a chance to prove he can do it with his first eleven.

he was saying it's not good enough to lose to nuneton and they wont be playing in the first team if they only play like that. if Man u lost to accrington stanley then i'm sure fergie wouldn't play those players in the first team and would say that is unacceptable.

Personalities???? No. But i do know him. So is that a yes then?

As for Thorn, he deserves fuck all. Hes been in charge over a year now and what has he done during that time? Got us relegated to how lowest position in 50 years!!!

....but it happens in friendlies. Newcastle lost 6-1 to Leyton orient and same season won promotion. I'd rather a manager stood by his words.

And especially as most players wont start against yeovil.
