Halili and Cazza in City friendly side

ANDY Thorn will run the rule over Brazilian striker Bruno Cazarine and German winger Ndriqim Halili at Nuneaton today.
The trialists have impressed in training with the Sky Blues all week but the Coventry City boss wants to see them in a competitive match, with both set to play 90 minutes against Boro.

Kosovo-born Halili, whose first name translates as Resplendence, came up through VfB Stuttgart's academy and was capped at under-16 level for the German national side. A quick and skilful leftsided player, the 19-year-old will get the chance to impress at Liberty Way along with new loan signings Reece Brown and Callum Ball.

The match will also see a return to action for midfielder Gary Deegan after he missed the first two weeks of the pre-season serving a suspension for an ill-judged remark on Twitter, while striker Cody McDonald is also set to feature in his first outing of the summer after recovering from an injury.

“I'm taking a decent team over there but probably eight of the boys who would normally play won't be playing, but it will still be a decent side,“ revealed Thorn.

“We've got a few numbers out there now and it has made competition really good. Those that aren't playing were in on Friday working really hard and they will feature at Wrexham on Tuesday night.“

As for Halili, he said: “He's a former Stuttgart academy lad and he's done well, although he looks like a little boy among all the big lads we've got now.

“Bruno will play 90 minutes as well and we'll have a good look at them both in the game.“

Nuneaton manager Kevin Wilkin said: “It's a fixture we always look forward to.
Coventry are good enough to bring a side across every year and it's the highlight of our pre-season to play them at our place.

“It will be another good test for the lads. They have got some good players there so it will be an interesting one. We usually get a good crowd and it's usually a competitive workout for both clubs. I think we drew 2-2 last year.“

That's a good goalscoring record for a winger

21 goals on 100 games for a midfielder?! That's pretty good!

It should be pronounced "drikkim haleely" - so his first name also sounds like Ricky

I don't know when or where he started to be called Ricky, but it will do for me

At least I can now see that whoever got the info on Bruno had a problem getting Ricky's proper name.

I think a young both footed wide man who can create and score is just what we need. Let's hope Bruno and Ricky can cause some real damage today and make an impression.

My concern is the time taken to conclude deals, is the budget still there is that why Jennings was let go?

Sounds good. Someone to get the fans off their bums as they go on a run down the wing.

Could be like the good old days with Salako, Froggatt or Ndlovu.

Haven't had a player that can really get the fans excited since Mifsud. We need that excitement back in the team. Come on Ricky!

I think we all recognise it was a damn good effort by the guy lynch who got the info. Clearly the player he got it off had only just met him and mis-pronounced the name.
