I went for Upgrade Both because I don't think either have Premier League potential.

They both have errors in them, lack real pace, struggle passing more than 10 yards and regularly get skinned when they have to defend 1-vs-1.

As a partnership, they've proven they're good enough for a team fighting for the last playoff spots. But we need better if want to kick on and contend for automatics. Obviously we don't have an unlimited budget so sadly this isn't feasible unless there are some insane free transfers out there.

One CB is realistic, but 2 is a bit optimistic. Both players are good defenders but the pace to play the high line and the ability on the ball is somewhat lacking for how we want to play.

Grimes being that 3rd CB in possession strikes me as a compensation for Thomas (in particularly) needed an easy out ball.

MVE shouldn’t escape criticism because he was rather error prone this whole tie.

Quite a few games now since JDS has been in for criticism. Should we keep him now?

I’d keep him as a backup LB. He clearly offers something different from most other players in that position, so a good bench option.

Binks and Lati aren't good enough, so if you're going to replace them, you want to aim for better than Thomas and Kitching so they are either second choice or having to improve to earn a place in the team

Surely cost implications negate this happening in both cases ?

Thomas and Kitching have improved since Grimes turned up . JDS is decent...he's just been showing it more recently. Grimes is the catalyst

We’re at a stage where moving to the next level will involve hefty spend. Sunderland’s squad cost 50% more than ours. Unless we are very shrewd the players we need at CB, CM, ST are going to cost. Hopefully we can fund it with outgoings.

He's actually played very well these past couple of months and fits in nicely with how FL wants us to play. He's probably earned another year here.

He's been error prone all season to be honest. He switches off a lot and without Saka supporting him very much struggles.

Yeah but we're talking about an ideal world.

The good thing is we actually own our squad these days and even the fringe players would command some sort of fee. If we're smart it's going to be an exciting summer. Already bored of hearing Birmingham linked with everyone though.

Not perfect but happy with these two. Decent combination and we have other priorities for our limited budget.

Agree with that but have to say I think that was down to just being knackered mentally from so many games...

You want a third CB who's at the same level or better than them. Not fussed if it's Latibeaudiere or Binks that leaves to raise some funds and make space.

Agree with the third choice although I'd rather Binks went I think. Both still young and have improvement in them and Binks probably the better footballer, but I think Lati more of a leader that we lack and can cover other positions albeit not great at them.

Lati is useful to the squad as he covers more than one position, would prefer Binks to go if it was a straight choice

Both capable but if we want to challenge up at the top of the table consistently, they’re not the answer.
defence needs an overhaul this summer.

I like Bobby Thomas, not much ground he doesn’t cover, but when games are 0-0 and he’s further up than our strikers like last Friday just before the counter, not for me.

Kitching too, reasonable championship player but we’d be carrying him. Although I do like how he’s like a flea in the refs ear, like what most captains should be doing and maybe if he had the armband he wouldn’t get as many yellow cards for his troubles

He was up further than our strikers last week as we had to win wasn't he?

Happy for them both to continue in the Championship.

Would look to sell both Lati and Binks to bring in an experienced CB who will push them both.

Fourth CB look for a decent free or a youngster to develop.
