Thought this would make an interesting poll.

What do we do with our centre half pairing, are they good enough, or would you look to upgrade?

Both still have loads of improvement in them . Would like an experienced CB in the squad as back up though , would keep Lati

Think they’ve both improved massively throughout the season tbf. But then stats don’t lie, we concede too many goals and so we need to upgrade at least one of them for me. Most prob Kitching.

Unless we’re saying all out defensive issues are down to Bidwell and Dasilva we need an upgrade at CB. Thomas is OK but he needs someone calmer and more organised alongside him IMO.

It's funny how many on here see Kitching as the weak link but both in this season and last our form picked up once he was playing regularly.

Good enough, but we need at least one other at that level. Don't think Binks is good enough. Lati should stay as he can cover multiple positions.

That's down to the formation (and a dodgy keeper) more than Thomas and Kitching.

I think we need to bring in a CB or 2 no matter what , and that should always be with the idea of improving the squad , we should look to bring in a top experienced pro as a minimum

The club should look to move on Binks and lati for fees

They are good enough but surely we’d want to upgrade everywhere if possible.

They are both relatively young for CB
Keep them together and they will develop into a strong pairing

i thikn the defence when required last night was outstanding. I think I'd keep them both as it seems they are starting to create a bit of a bond and would like to see how they develop. Would try and bring in 1/2 more experienced as cover/competition

Think with any defensive pairing it is how they compliment each other and Thomas and Kitching play well together.
As we've seen this season when one or the other has been missing we haven't defended as well

We definitely need an upgrade as regards depth of quality in the centre back area

Thomas has improved immensely since he's been with us. Kitching is a hard man and just what you need a the back. Yes both can still make mistakes but they're both good at their job.

I agree with sentiments here. I think both are good, we just need better back up pushing both of them.

I think both are fine at this level. We desperately need more competition though as neither Lati or Binks are good enough.

Agree with this BUT cannot believe how stupid they are with some of their challenges...often as last night in opponents box and giving free kicks away, getting booked and stopping our momentum..it happens a lot in many matches. This is deffo something that stern words from coaches and other players should sort....but doesnt seem to have been improved in recent weeks. Second huge criticism is their passing....dont mind the occassional 30 to 40 yard pass going astray BUT they are both dreadfull at hitting 15 -20 yard passes STRAIGHT to opponents UNBELIEVABLE at times

Our xGA is lower this season than it was in 2023 with the team that kept 20 odd clean sheets. They defend well on the whole.

And he leads the back line well , DaSilva especially has improved with Kitching as the inside centre back on his side

Neither as good as Ballard, that's the level we need. He was like a prime Fadz.

He was incredible in both games but before the first leg wasn't considered to be starting

I've voted upgrade both

However that's in an ideal world. I think as a pairing they are definitely good enough to have us pushing for top 6, but we don't want to push for it now, we want to be solidly in that top 4 or 5 all season. So on that basis I feel we need to go up a notch

That would cost us loads though ?
Surely that money needs spending in more advanced areas

I think both are decent and I think Kitching is the better of the two. If the opportunity comes to upgrade either I would take it. Binks and Latibeaudiere are both useless and definitely need replacing.

With a proper GK behind them they are a decent unit as a pairing.

Get a proper pre season into them and cut the hollywood passes and mistake out and we will be much better.

Honestly just make sure we have better than Lati and Binks as a starting point then let 4 competent CBs fight it out.

I have huge worries about us defensively. We went through a phase where we always looked likely to concede 2 every game. I wouldn’t say this means we need to get rid of Thomas and Kitching as they have promise but I would want another high quality CB bought to provide competition.

100% this. Thomas alongside a genuine experienced leader at the back would be a formidable pairing. Thomas and Kitching is sometimes great, and sometimes very much not great. Thomas is the one with the potential to get better.

We need an upgrade of options so it’s Lati and especially Binks who need moving on

As a CB pairing they are very good at this level. It helps massively having a competent keeper behind them . Kitching I like for his aggression but he does lack a bit of pace which is also an issue with our left backs. Bring in a LB with some pace and better defensively and the situation improves considerably.
We do need another quality CB as Binks isn't good enough and Lati is just adequate at best.

I feel like for the first team striker and left back are higher priorities for upgrading the first 11.

Then we need a goal keeper for the first half of the season and added squad depth on both wings. Not sure there will be much money left on the budget to upgrade centre back after this
