Not denying SISU God awful tactics but The only think this proves is that the leaders at CCC Were ready to stich up SISU Like kippers.

What CCC should never have forgotten is that unfortunately SISU are CCFC. By stiching up SISU They've shafted CCFC.

They were given the heads up in the last few weeks, Joy "we won't interfere" and Tim "we are building our own" so the council only had one party to deal with. As I said on another thread, if they had bid on a par and been rejected there would be grounds for protest...they seemingly don't appear interested...so that leaves only the fans to be outraged.

but now they have heard a few comments from a CEO a lot of them seem happy at our clubs plight.

Only people to blame here are the original anchor tenants who have taken their ball and fucked off and keep stating they don't want the smelly stadium anyway.

I suppose if Sisu do build the FisherBowl in Bedworth CCC should've kept waiting just in case they changed their minds and wanted to come home later?

Please outline and quantify where possible the benefits to the city of bringing in a rugby team.

Aw come on. A Premiership team playing in Europe, crammed with internationals and intent on growing more; bringing big European games to the city and you're asking what the potential benefit is?

You may not agree with the morality of it, but that's a preposterous line of attack

Of course they have played a part. Just as previous owners and managers have. But SISU own the club and have done for seven years, they are primarily responsible for the way we have been run. There have been a catalogue of errors. They had plenty of opportunity to buy into the Ricoh and they failed. It really is that simple.

Given their own fans don't want to go, and the people of Coventry have shown they disagree with the principle of teams moving places, it#'s not unreasonable to expect gates to be remarkably low...

Putting morality aside it's the logistics, isn't it? They have 2500 ST holders and gates of around 6000. How many do you think will travel up the extra 80 odd miles in December?

Not everyone is as pleased as you are.

I don't know a thing about Rugby so you could be right. However, given the circumstances and the distance then I don't see this setting the scene for Aviva Fever just yet.

Both you and I don't know that. Given proximity to other big clubs, I can see that danger. But with excitement and interest rising ahead of the World Cup, there'll be unparalleled interest in the sport. If it fulfils that potential though, it's disingenuous to pretend there's not a quantifiable benefit to the city

Too late for all of the anti-SISU brigade to realise what actual was going on all the time!

What form do the benefits take? Why couldn't Wycombe's local authority see these benefits?

A place 80 miles nearer the natural fan base.

Perhaps. I'm asking a straight question. What sort of benefits. Tangible ones directly related to Wasps moving here. Ones that might deliver thousands of new jobs as has been conflated by Ann Lucas.

The benefits to Wasps are obvious if they can persuade people to attend. Not so obvious for CCC if they can't.

Well it will create jobs, won't it. It's silly to state otherwise. Where did she promise 'thousands'?

I think they are looking at trying to bring some fans with them, but primarily building a new fan base. Coventry have a large number of small Rugby Clubs in the City and the surrounding area. Most fans are loyal to local clubs on match days..Saturday. Wasps play on Sunday. Potentially they can draw off Birmingham too. Worcester were getting fans from Wolverhampton when they were in top flight. My neighbour travels to Northampton, I know people who go to Leicester. rugby fans have already said to me they would go to see Wasps on a Sunday. Then look at the longer term kids aren't so bothered about tradition, they are impressed by the best teams. So a midlands based Wasps over time could be a lot healthier than they have been.

yes it is a gamble, but any business is.

This goes back, maybe, to the entire problem of the Arena's existence in the first place.

The club petitioned for the council to step in, and the vote was only carried eventually once concessions were made about redevelopment of the land and general social opportunities unrelated to the sports team.

Not unreasonable, really... but it has led to a situation where the sports team has struggled to live in harmony, and severe budget shortfalls in the council exacerbate that as there's not the space in the budget to give way readily... let alone the political will and motivation, which has *certainly* not been there.

I can't help but fear we move further and further away from what's 'best' by just judging it on financial grounds. If we do that, then SISU have very correctly attempted to turn round a failed business that should have been dead when they took it over, and they've very correctly tried every trick in the book.

So... SISU may as well build a random ground in Higham on the Hill, and Wasps may as well offer packages to schoolchildren in the interests of 'community' and you never know we might get a hotel!

It'll all be sterile though, it'll all be a bit, well... plastic.

If you can't exercise sufficient lateral thinking to work through the benefits any significant national and European sporting events taking place in Coventry bring, then I'm wasting my time even responding to you. Its clear your myopic view, that history had proven so very sadly wrong has left you with no alternative than playing silly buggers

As I said before, bad for Cov by the looks of it, very bad for Wasps fans, maybe okay for the City, but very good for the local economy.

The gamble is whether or not the football club remains here or not. That goes and there will be am economic loss to the city.

Nope. I stated that big European games in Coventry would be an exciting prospect, which it is, but I won't go. I've played for both local teams and don't like the parachuting in of clubs like Wasps. Doesn't stop me seeing the business rationale in it all though

One last thing before I ignore you too: the circumstances will probably mean that any significant...blah blah usual wordy shit...events will noy be attended in any numbers by the fans of the franchise because of the distance they have been moved on a permanent basis. So, who is going to go?

I have no idea. You have Saints and Leicester both up the road and pulling on local 'big league' supporters already. Worcester non-too far away, who have invested locally in academies; so that's an issue.

But people will go - believe me - to watch England players and other internationals in Coventry. I very, very, very much prey it's not to the detriment to Coventry Rugby Club, the Lions and the Nuns. I have every interest in that regard. But that doesn't stop me knowing that people will turn up. They will

Hopefully no ccfc fan who boycotted Sixfields will go.....that would be a tad hypocritical

I'd be very surprised if they get any more than 3.5-4k for the average game.
