that october and november are going to be really good months for coventry city f.c and by december we will be firmly established in the top 3

we have issues we need to work on of course, what team doesnt? but i agree with robins that the team is starting to grow and gel together, a few weeks ago we couldnt make chances, thats now been rectified, now its just about taking chances and i feel that wll be sorted out too in due course. defensivly we are very good which is buying us time to work on attack.

my only worry is that the squad is thin on quality. andreu out for season leaves us with only jones and nazon as the bright sparks that can produce magic,on the bench we have a alot of players who still need to prove they are good enough in league 2(stevenson,biamou,ponticelli,dke,finn)

but thats a problem for later in season when tiredness kicks in, for now i predict a good 2 months coming up!

Name one Division 4 side in the history of the game which hasn't been thin on quality?

I hope so, its rare I come away from seeing us lose and being reasonably pleased but I thought we played well for the majority of Saturday and we will play far worse this year and win. We must just keep on with Saturday's form and we will be ok.
Stokes looked like he found his engine again and we really created some space and opportunities.

We just need another striker with the Duck and a pacey right midfielder to put PV under pressure.

Not looking forward to Exeter though, but i'm with you mate, we're one click away from giving someone a good hiding.

Lets just hope we play to our full potential and everything clicks into place, or they have an off day

Exactly how i felt. Been a long time since i have seen us loose but felt pleased with the performance/effort. Small margins tbf, biamou very close to scoring few inches either way on about 3 shots and we would have scored! At least we seem to be on top in most games now. Just hopeful that the goals start flowing soon.

true

but i feel like if we lose jones we lose our advantage and thus top 3 is less likely

As always I admire your enthusiasm but personally I just can't see a top three finish unless we start finding some goals from somewhere. I think we're good enough for top seven but no better at this moment in time.

We'll be top half/playoff material potentially, but we need more killer instinct up front. I don't know if that is a couple of new players in January, or Nazon/McNulty finding form. I do think without that we won't sail this league by any means. If we can improve up top I can see us with a comfortable playoff finish at least. We are generally good enough at the back and in midfield to beat most teams, we just need to get the ball in the net a bit more.

This is what concerns me. Better co-ordination can create more chances but putting the ball away is an individual skill which seems a bit beyond us at the moment.

I must be watching different games to everyone else, who are all these chances falling to that we keep missing but that a better striker is going to score?

Saturday - Beavon had 2 clear strikes at goal, Doyle had 1. Biamou had a chance with a close range header, Duck had clear shot at goal inj the last minute, vincenti missed an opportunity in the first half...Just saying

Half of them are shots from outside the area. Only really Duck's 2nd chance that I considered a miss. We're still tactically wrong in the first half of games, much too deep in defence and so consequently the midfield pair are too. So we're having to win games in 1 half. It's much more concerning than the form of our strikers to me.

I am not concerned as yet, I thought we were very good second half on saturday. But tbf you asked about chances a striker would take. On saturday a striker in form would have done better with any of the chances we had imo. I think it will come, just responding to your ?

I agree, I am a beavon fan, he worked his socks off on Saturday, as they all did. The lack of goals brings it's own pressure.

After saturdays performance there is more to be happy about than not. Very fine line between being on the winning side than not on that showing.

I'm sure there will be games were awful in and come away winners wondering how we did.

Fans might feel better and enjoy things more if they don't put any expectation on the season. Just take each game as it comes and try to enjoy it. Just let it unfold............
