I also used to go to the Cheylesmore quite a bit. Another nice place, now demolished.
The Smithfield Hotel was another place I frequented, now gone as well.
when i was a kid going to Barnabys before christmas to try and wrangle some extra presents was always a treatNot wishing to be picky, but the chess board was outside Davies's sports shop. Also, the toy shop next door to the Locarno (now the library) was Barnabys.
