If the slippery six want to go off to super leagues, let them. I am heartily sick of domestic competitions being skewed and rigged as European competitions and international competitions get expanded. Champions League must be one of the biggest misnomers in sport. An international break 4 weeks in to the season. Top clubs being seeded and awarded home ”draws” in the Carabao Cup. All wrong

I wonder how many other than the teams supporters would actually tune in to watch. I don’t watch any European competitions (I used to when it was the actual “champions” who were playing). I can’t be arsed with international friendlies or the nations league.

I don't think their fans actually want the teams to be involved in some supergalactic moneywankers league otherwise id also support them just fucking off.

The late kick off was on the order of West Midlands police. Many Bristol City fans got caught up in the rush hour traffic at the M5/M6 junction in NW Birmingham. Highfield Road could well have been the same as the Hillsborough disaster some years later had the OB not intervened.
As for the story about Sir Jimmy running up the main stand to get the Everton/Mackems result put on the scoreboard ? Absolutely true. I saw him myself from the opposite side of the pitch (in the Sky Blue Terrace) charging up the steps. I dare say that the Sunderland chairman would have done exactly the same.

Celebrating with a bottle of champagne with the Bristol City manager - his former assistant manager - was not exactly the best look

There was at the time it’s on wages if I recall - 60% of the turnover on wages. Still is - can spend what you want but the wages need to be a % of turnover. Another farce in terms of the rules being all over the place

yeah, most of that team wouldn't of been on much at all

“For every 200 million sperm in each human ejaculation, 2 million make it into the cervix, 1 million make it into the uterus, 10,000 make it to the top of the organ, 5,000 enter the uterotubal junction, 1000 enter the Fallopian tube, 200 reach the egg and only 1 enters the egg to fertilize it.”
And this twat made it. Nature can be a bstard at times.

Oh don’t you’re making me laugh least you won the M69 Trophy

You had Jimmy Hill who cheated and delayed the kick off time so that Sunderland got relegated - so you’re cheats like us

Did you hear that from Sunderland? That's not exactly the case. Perhaps do you research before posting on a forum that isn't one that should really be your concern.

Sunderland needed to win the game that they played. They didn't.

Not that I think there’s anything in this Jimmy Hill cheated crap.

But even though Sunderland lost at Everton, had there been a winner at Highfield Rd ‘they’d have stayed up.

But, had they won their game and there was a draw at Highfield Rd, they'd have stayed up at our expense.

Yeah I get that ‘but any winner at Highfield Rd means they stay up whatever they do at Everton.

Always thought their beef was down to Cov & Bristol City “allegedly“ deliberately playing out a draw the only result that relegates them if they lose.

This has just reminded me that I've got a lovely letter from Alan Dicks written to Jon Sillett on Snoz's 70th Birthday. I think he quite liked Coventry.

I was actually at this game mate as a 7y/o, one of my first & best memories supporting Cov, me & my brother 10 being dragged up Thacknal St through the crowds toward our seats in the upper West stand.

Amazing memories and what an incredible atmosphere.
People constantly talk about the game changing & losing it’s meaning among the working class that escalated it to where it is.

I know what my opinion is & wouldn’t want to try & offload it on others but I honestly don’t think football will ever resonate with people as it did then.
Fantastic times 🩵

Did that stop us from getting promoted as champions or earn you a place in the play-offs?

If Leeds, Southampton and Ipswich didnt do their best to bottle it you wouldnt have gone up automatically. Just an if, like if I was good looking and rich would have a chance with Margot Robbie

That maybe true, but now the legal arguments have concluded that the FFP breaches were under the EFL you must be praying that you don't get relegated.
As starting with a large points deficit next season could ensure more than 1 year in the championship with the implications for your finances. Enjoy this season, as it maybe a downward spiral from this point.

Who cares seen us win everything possible. PL is and lower down is how football used to be.

Don’t know why you’d want to go up as it’s unforgiving in the PL.

Still makes me laugh on here how we always became a main thread for discussion on here whereas on our, you never are
