Not sure. He's a central midifeld player isn't he? I do like box to box players and Fleck has shown a little bit of that in the past, but I think those sorts of players with a great engine and who can defend and attack are invaluable.

I think these fixtures will decide whether we're gonna be in with a shout for automatics or whether we're gonna have to try and get a play off place. Really hope we beat Burton and Walsall so we can try and win the league, don't wanna have to cope with the stress of the play offs!

Need a min of 9 points if we are still looking at Autos

Heart:

Crewe W
Walsall W
Burton W
Southend D

10 points and closing the gap on top two.

Head:

Crewe L
Walsall D
Burton L
Southend D

2 points and slipping down the table

Having said that I had us leading the table by 5 points when I looked ahead to the December fixtures, on paper we should be in a very comfortable position, but with the slump in form we are now struggling to hang onto the top 2.

8 points (2 wins, 2 draws) Think Walsall will be tougher than Burton. Beat Crewe & Burton, draw Walsall, Saafend

2 draws, a win and a loss (LDWD). 5 points. The games against Walsall and Burton will be massive and we could well lose our unbeaten home record in either game.

Are we the only English team unbeaten at home? if so why no big mention by the media?

Burton our great in defense but scoring goals is not exactly their best asset? At home we will be against a 10 man defense so a draw most likely but something tells me we will sneak it.
Walsall play open footy but they have had some luck lately in winning and not because of great play. Think we will beat them in an open ended game.
Southend have made great strides and they played well at the Ricoh. But at home they need to come at us so the wall of defenders and man marking Armstrong won't work and that gives us the space to exploit them with pace.
Crewe have looked one of the best sides at the Ricoh to me. They were doing well until JOB stepped up and saved our blushes. Since then they can't seem to get going. But they will be up for it against us.

I think we will beat Walsall and Burton and win at Crewe with a draw at Southend.

10 points and firmly back on top with a message to all the rest.
We have had a slightly indifferent few games but come out of it well. We are certain to fire on all cylinders again knowing we have these fixtures and what it could mean.

Wow! Much prefer your version to mine, but in fixture order I see it: DLDW

There is also the option of playing Vincelot as CB if we want to play other defenders in their natural positions, or want Ricketts as RB. Also would allow us to change to 3 at the back if we wanted to change formation to 3-4-1-1 or similar (Stokes Vince Rickets - Murphy Fleck Rose JOB - Maddison - Armo)

Need Rose to be ready for that though. Vincelot would be a massive loss from that DM slot. He makes such a difference.

Sure, doesn't need to be Rose though, could be Cole in CM also. I've no idea how good or not Rose is until I've seen him with my own eyes. Same for Lorentsen.

Just worry about Cole's pace and he can't tackle as well as Vincelot either.

Hi, Walsall fan here.

Looking forward the game at your place, it will show if we can maintain our automatic promotion credentials, and yours.

Not sure how you arrive at us being lucky recently though. 5 straight league wins, 2 goals conceded with 3 clean sheets.

All season, we've only lost 1 away, winning 7 and drawing 3 with 24 goals scored.

Not saying you won't beat us, but we haven't been lucky. It's got draw written all over it, although we've beaten all the top sides so far this season.

Whilst you were all excited over the marquee & PR signing of Joe (hasn't been fit for years) Cole to put bums on seats, we signed young, hungry George Evans on loan from Man City who has scored 4 goals, and played most minutes.

Lots of City fans want him back and given a chance, but I think that's unlikely. His loan expires before we play you, but we're trying to extend it but there's lots of talk of Championship clubs trying to get him on loan.

He was bought in to cover Mantom who was injured but is fit again now, so its not the end of the world if he goes.

Are any of your loan signings likely to be recalled?

Personally I wouldn't be massively surprised if we got maximum points from the next 4 games.
It's got to happen some time. We are the best team by far in this league.
And btw only had about 1/2 glass of wine so far today ! Happy New Year to everyone.

On paper, possibly. If you mean by name rather than performances. Playing on grass says otherwise, that you're not.

If you mean in term of performances vs playing budget, then you're way behind us and Burton.

Despite Cole's drop in wages (for his PR exercise of saying he just wants to play), he's still probably earning around half of what of entire first team wage bill is.

Kent going back to Liverpool, so he'll be gone by the time we play you. Looks like Armstrong is confirmed for the season. Cole and Bigirimana we are trying to sign permanently. That would leave us just 2 loans, Armstrong and Jordan Murphy.

I think that was mentioned by someone on here based on the two late goals against Peterborough. But I don't consider late goals to be 'lucky', they mean your team was fighting until the very end - which is to be applauded.
I have this game down for a draw but I think we will beat Burton in the folllowing game.

It was just that Peterborough game. Word was that both goals came against the run of play and the first one was a deflection off a defender. Think that's the only 'lucky' comment.
