Good goal, that.

Kamakazee defending though. Leave that few back in the last minute.

We tried our best (with what we had got) until we went a goal down. Then at that point we didn't chase the equaliser and sort of settled for the defeat.

Southgate correctly judged before kick off that England's chances of progressing furthest would be greatest if they finished second.

Probably be like teachers who teach their kids and be extra harsh in case anyone suspects foul play.

That hasn't been proven yet, if it ever could have been?

Well Belgium are more likely to beat the brazilians than japan.

Could argue their best chance of a result was get it done in 90. They'd have been out on their feet in extra time.

He was right of course, but for myself as a fan, I don't ever like to see England beaten.

3-2 Belgium in extra time this if Japan don’t chill.

Japan will try for a 3rd and concede a soft one on the break

I agree. Whilst it is a bit of a conspiracy it wouldn't at all surprise me.

Southgate went all week saying we wanted to win, then played a second string team.

Martinez said straight away he was going to rest players.

Neither team wanted to win it, but Southgate won the mind games in the twisted format of not winning the game.

Ah I did say ET though.

But 2-1 England winner in the last 10 mins.
1-1 HT England take the lead but pegged back quickly by Colombia.

It's so boring, this World Cup malarkey!

Joking aside, since the end of the group stages there's been some great games, some great goals, some great drama and some great results. That's how a world cup should be.

Thought Japan were brilliant - only really the height/physicality options that Belgium had that got them out of that (and they so nearly didn't)

Feared for Japan when Godzilla came on. Japan play some lovely football Took a fluke and Japan's lack of height at the back to get Belgium back into it.

I genuinely think England could be in for a rude awakening, some serious signs of arrogance showing. Colombia are no mugs at all.

Hopefully the arrogance is just among fans, and not the players.

They might be a side we should beat but they’re the best side we will face unless we get to the final. They’ve got some very good players that will hurt us if we switch off for a second. Going to be a tight game.

I agree and I am not looking past tonight. Could be a tough game for us.

Could be that James Rodriguez is out for them tonight though and that could weaken them.

I am most certainly not taking this one for granted and I do think we need a strong ref in this evening's matchup.
