Even the most hard of heart must be thinking that football is looking at flights thinking about visiting home.

Ah, but you have to understand my stance.

1. I find it entirely more satisfying when we beat the best teams. Greatest feeling ever when we beat Germany 5-1.

2. I want us to meet the best teams to show we can compete with them (did Iceland fear anyone they came up against?).

3. I have had confidence from the start that we are capable of beating anyone.

4. I always had a sneaky suspicion that Mexico might well beat Brazil anyway and I also had the same feeling about Russia over Spain and Mexico over Germany.

You're at it again in a sneaky way!

How are any of those things more important than winning the world cup?

Southgate made the right call. We beat Colombia and I think we can get to the final.

He can't. It's second nature to him.

Even when City play brilliantly and win he still picks at something that was wrong about the game.

Not being sneaky at all. What am I at again exactly?

I would rather play Brazil and win against Brazil than avoid Brazil. That's all I am saying. Not trying to be sneaky or move any goalposts. And I still think we could have won the World Cup through the 'harder' path.

All I have said that we should take it one game at a time and we should try and win every game. Never veered from that. Same stance all along.

I am honestly not trying to be sneaky. I still say we should have picked a team that could have beaten the Belgians.

As an Englishman I just want England to win every single game.

Don't understand how any Englishman could want England to be in the other half of the draw.
Just look at what Belgium have got in front of them.

And by the same token I don't understand any Englishman who is happy that we lost.

You are also missing the very point. I keep saying, I believe we can beat anyone, including Brazil.

It really is that simple.

Your right we certainly got the better half of the draw but that means anything but the final is technically failure so no excuses!

Amazed that Russian fans - a goal down with an hour left are doing the Mexican wave. Not sure if that shows they know they have no chance and determined to enjoy the occasion - fair play. Can't imagine that would happen at Wembley if we were 1 down in that situation!

Starting a Mexican wave when we’re 0-1 down is the most Wembley thing ever!

But you’ve spent ages on this thread fretting about beating a much poorer South American side and not playing Japan

We have got the better half of the draw. No-one is arguing that for sure.

I just want us to beat the best.

Quite often it comes up about when we won the FA Cup and who we played along the way to the final.

It does make it just a little bit sweeter that we beat Man Utd away and Stoke away and Sheffield Weds away and then Spurs in the final.

I'm sure we would have been very happy had we come up against Scunthorpe in the final, but it is better if you beat the best and top sides.

Not a single fret from me. Not a single one.

Twisting it all around yet again. Getting very much used to it now.

I do think we will beat Colombia, but everyone and I mean everyone is saying Colombia should prove to be tougher than playing Japan.

I just agree with everyone.

One game at a time. That's all I have been looking at and not pathways to the final. Let's just win each game as they come up.

Not sure why you wish to keep arguing.

My guess is because you are Grendel and that's what you do.

Eh? Stoke were a league below us and Sheff Weds were the underdogs in that game finishing well below us points wise in the league.

I had a tenner@16/1 on us to win it on skybet(money back if we don't) we are now 11/2.
And a tenner on Kane to win the golden boot@20/1 he is 5/4 now.

I missed the first 5 minutes of this game so I'm trying the same this half to Hopefully inject a bit of a spark into proceedings. The last 40 minutes were not much fun!

That 16/1 is looking a bit tasty now. Mind you, 11/2 to win it is a shocking price. UK bookies can always get away with short odds on England.

And 20/1 Harry is a belter of a bet.

Good luck.
