Great to see Southgate going over to the fans today. Yes there were things to improve on but let’s enjoy winning 6-1 in the World Cup.

Poor second half from England but that was always likely to happen after the first. Happy to see how this team is developing. Got to say I’ve been impressed with the way Southgate is growing into managers role. He has taken a fairly average group of players and is beginning to turn them into a real last 8 or better World Cup squad.

He didn't do much at all today.

I would be inclined to keep Loftus-Cheek in though whether Alli is fit or not.

Loftus-Cheek is so strong on the ball and that physicality could come in really handy.

Bit disappointed with Southgate's subs today. Surely the perfect time to blood Alexander-Arnold, rather than bring Rose on.

Didn't like Vardy coming on either. Would have much preferred Rashford or even Welbeck.

Will try harder next time

That was ridiculous. Boiling hot too. On a train for 8 hours tonight too so no shower until the morning. Can’t judge how we played as they were that poor. Their fans went mental when they scored and I’m actually pleased for them. Some great stories on how they got here.

Missed all of England game - car broke down (newish!) at 12 noon and I ended up being taken by an AA bloke to Bham Airport to pick up a hire car from a firm that wasn't based at Bham airport. I then got taken to some place not far from Villa Park (spit) to be given a hire car which I drove back to Warwick to arrive 5 mins after the end

Otis, I usually love your posts but like others you are focussing on the negatives for England. Fact is in recent years we haven’t beaten teams like Costa Rica, Algeria and Iceland. Not just because we weren’t ruthless but we created fuck all. 12 chances 6 on target, most in the first 30 mins against Tunisia and people were still moaning.

Let’s enjoy England playing some decent stuff, loving playing as a team and their country, for as long as it lasts.

It’s too easy to pick fault these days rather than accept that (even considering the opposition) those first two games are as well as we’ve played in tournament football for 20 years ! Sad I know but a fact

Wouldn't say I was focusing only on the negatives. I did say we were ruthless in the final third.

Our passing at times was very poor though and even Southgate himself said we didn't start the game well. We were 2-0 up without playing anything like decent.

I am happy, but felt we weren't at our best in terms of keeping possession.

If we finished second then Spain would be in our half the draw so not all the top teams would be in the top half of the draw.

They have to get past the mighty Morocco first.

You won't be saying that when we're all dancing round the Belgrade fountain celebrating England winning the World Cup.

That's the thing

You and othets like you will get on players back and look at negatives and no positives

But if we win you will be trying to party and enjoy it alongside real fans

Funny

Ha!

I am a massive England supporter and am always sticking up for them. Also thought we would do okay here in Russia too.

You are confusing me with others I think.

Some on here can't even be bothered to watch England games at all half the time.

And to jog your memory, I was one of the ones who said that England winning the World Cup would be bigger than City winning the league.

To be fair I have been critical of Southgate and thought him to be the wrong man for the job.

I have my humble pie recipe book all ready now though.

Would love to have him prove me wrong.

Yeah, I can see your point but Iran can still qualify and Morocco are out so I think Morocco heads could be down. Maybe being under no pressure might actually do them some good, it would be nice to see Spain in the other half of the draw.

I'm looking at how many fans from the South American nations have made this Huge trip and wonder If theyve been subsidised in any way to shift the tickets not taken up by the Europeans due to the political shitfest .
Extraordinary following.

Yep. Seems like he has told them all to play their narural games and express themselves.

Very refreshing to see.

Think we are going to have an England team coming home to plaudits.

I find this attitude pathetic tbh. We should aim to win the group and play whoever that means

Some people need to get a grip. Complaints about Danny Murphy referring to England as 'we.'

BBC viewers rage over 'biased' England World Cup commentary

I would expect him to say 'we.'

If it was Strachan on a Scotland game I would expect him to say 'we.'

Much ado about nothing again.

I was quite happy with the way the sky blues played their last league game and ultimately ensured play off success
Very similar scenario

To finish second though we need to either lose the game or deliberately have players take bookings.

Not the same as going for a draw. No-one should play to lose.
