Arrived in Chisinau. Biggest Airport in Moldova. It’s like Bagington but much less organised. they’ve delayed our connection though so could be worse.

It's very clear though that this VAR system is nowhere near perfected. It needs some definite refinements in terms of how it is used and when. You can't just use it for some penalty shouts, but five minutes later not use it for another penalty shout. It has to be a universal thing, and it doesn't mean you have to stop the game, you just continue like we did in the Peru game. It should be an automatic process that the video referee is looking at every penalty shout, and as play goes on says to the match referee "stop the game, bring it back" or "continue, no foul". If the video ref is going to wait until it's referred by the match ref, then it leaves things still too far open to interpretation. There's no point having a situation where Argentina had a clear case for a penalty, but the video ref didn't call anything even though he has all the angles, normal speed and slow speed available. If he's waiting for the match ref to ask, he shouldn't be. Call it regardless.

I just don’t like the expectation that everything slightly controversial goes to VAR. just stops teams playing to the whistle and more attempts to test the system to get decisions

VAR is a joke and has caused more controversy than the original decisions that were made. No way was France's a pen. The guy touch the ball.

I just don't know why they're using VAR at a world cup, work out the kinks by using it in domestic leagues and let everybody get used to it before you bring it to the biggest tournament in football.
