Turned out to be a mismatch in the end really didn't it? Always felt that last free kick was going in.

I didn't think Saudi Arabia looked that bad early in the game, seemed to be able to get forward well. Once Russia settled in though that was only going one way, really. Defensively vulnerable to the counter attack, gave the ball away too much in midfield, no real threat up the other end.

I didn't dismiss Russia quite so quickly as others.

There's always a few odd results at the World Cup. More yet to come too no doubt.

Actually had Russia down for a draw today. Certainly didn't think they would lose, as some predicted.

I think Jonathon Pearce and Keown have been to the Eakin school of commentary.
Pearce doesn't know who's playing, and they call goal when it was obviously wide.
