Better second half, but thought he wasn't good at all in that first half.

From the video on this page, at 0.25, proof that Southgate can even heal the lame.

Sweden manager predicts how far England will go at the World Cup

I know he took a decent corner for Maguire's goal, but thought Young's distribution in the first half was pants. Good to see England do ok (against a poor Sweden) without Harry Kane having to be the main man. Hope Dele Alli can pick up, because - despite his well taken goal- he hasn't quite recovered his sharpness (still carrying a niggle?). Fully fit, he can lift the England team to another level. Pickford and Maguire immense today.

The Three Lions roar on. Professional performance today, plus clean sheet.

Sweden''s game plan went straight out of the window from the moment we scored and then they were also worried about getting caught by our pace on the break.

England nullified them wonderfully well, but we did need Pickford too of course.

Croatia having plenty of possession but doing nothing with it. They did similar against Denmark too.

I’ve never rated Pickford but what a game he had today!

Maybe I just don’t know a good GK when I see one?

Just logging in from Spain at half time.

1-0 up good, but it needs to be more.

Will people listen to me regarding Sterling now? What a joke.

Hoping I can catch the game on Wednesday when I’m out in Spain. Can’t remember from last year if there were any bars where I’m staying? Think there were a few further round towards Lo Pagan but it’ll be worth the walk aslong as the Spanish have it on!

Did anyone else do a collective ‘awww’ when a blonde Swedish woman came on screen, the laugh when a crying Swedish man came on?

His saves were crucial today. Certainly played a big part in our win. Thank goodness it's not Joe Hart stood between the posts.

My one criticism of him was there were two or three kicks that went out of play. But, Lee Burge has made a career out of that and he's got a promotion to his name. Maybe I'm just nitpicking a bit.

You have just spent too long watching burge. To be fair I bet Pickford hasn’t played better than he did today.

At one point I did think it might have been Burge in goal - pull off a blinder of a save, then throw it straight of play within minutes

Plenty of weak spots in both these sides. Crowd lifting Russia and maybe getting to Croatia.

Have to admit I'm not sure I've seen a goalie throw a ball so far as to get it out of play that far down the pitch before!

Really starting to love this guy;

Wasn’t much a fan in his playing days, perhaps that was his link to Villa, and when he was brought in to manage England, I was certain he was the wrong choice!!

Did I read right before the competition that the position was going be reviewed and a process would take place using the’rooney rule’ to choose the next manager? I’m assuming that will never take place now after how well the team have done this tournament?
