It was painfully, painfully clear yesterday Stevenage just wanted it more. Don't underestimate the power of wanting something over skill and talent.
Without a shadow of doubt, or line up is stronger ''on paper'' than any of our opposition so far in the league (with possibly the exception of Sheff UTD), the big difference has been the opposition wanting to fight for the win.
We are second to every ball, we back out of key challenges, we pas sideways instead of driving forward (granted this is also down to tactics). Just think back to all the games so far, we push, push, enter teh final third and 9 times out of 10 the ball either ends up being passed back to our defence, or the opposition do what we don't, and surge forward in numbers, literally walking through our midfield like it wasn't there.
Just watch Kilbane, Baker, McDonald, Hussey, Barton....any error, any mistake, they just jog back to position laughing. LAUGHING?!!! That to be says all that needs to be said. Yes embarrasment plays a factor, but seriously, the attitude in the squad stinks.
This is why we NEED a strong, experienced head. Someone to make it clear that failure is no longer acceptable.
End of post.
