I've read that article before and Micky Adams still annoys me in what he says. Yes McSheffrey was a big loss at the time, but he still spent a fair bit on Kyle and McKenzie, who were terrible replacements. Scowcroft I don't think was as influential as he makes out, especially as he was stuck on the wing most of the time. Wise was retiring, IIRC he'd made that quite clear. Hutchinson leaving was just as important, and they were both replaced with Colin Cameron. By the end of his stint we hadn't won in about 15 games and the players looked seriously disinterested.
Adams plays the victim role when he made some awful purchases with money we could only dream of now.
