Why can't we use both? To be able to fluidly change between 433, 4231, 532, 451 would be a huge string to our bow and we seem to have the players to do it

If we start 433

Dovin

Milan
Thomas
Kitching
Bidwell

Torp
Sheaf
Rudoni

Sakamoto
Simms
Wright

Then have EMC, Eccles, Bassette, Allen Asante available to change it if needed

532

Dovin

Milan
Lati
Thomas
Kitching
Dasilva

Sheaf
Rudoni
Torp

Simms
Wright

Again, EMC, BTA, Bidwell, Allen, Eccles Bassette Sakamoto etc to change it

Well with all this talk on the Brentford way, might as well copy their tactics

With two of our best attacking players coming back, I would suspect us to kick it up a gear. BTA drops out for Wright at the very least. I'm not sure about how you fit in EMC, unless you drop Simms and play Wright there, with EMC then on the left. Not sure though, I wouldn't want to change too much though really. It's working well.

In the real world Sheaf doesn't get back in (I say that because he probably will, but shouldn't). We've looked much better without him, and it's the 4th time in 3 seasons he's had a long layoff and our form has drastically improved. It's not the only variable, but the sample size is big enough now that it isn't really a coincidence any more.

I don't see how you could drop many players at the moment, particularly the current midfield. It's working very well, which is not a bad problem to have at all!

I know you don't like him bur for balance he missed the start of this season and we were awful and our best spell last season coincided with o'hares return to the side, when o'hare was magnificent for around 12 games and Sheaf played throughout it.

Are we to assume there won’t be much in the way of transfers? Not much in the way of rumours at the minute.

I think it is. Hamer was more a deep lying playmaker, but he was so good he could play anywhere. We miss his willingness to receive the ball and drive through it pick a pass and neither Torp nor Rudoni can do that right now. TBH it’s why I feel long term we need another midfielder in there who is more dynamic and more comfortable in the middle of the park.
Agreed Shmeee. I would say though that Rudoni has been really effective creative outlet over 3-4 weeks - and his form has been a bit under the radar. Someone driving the ball from midfield with 3 options ahead (with some serious pace) - I agree would be the icing on the cake. We now have that pace with EMC and Wright returning.

It's the other way. Sheaf is a comfort blanket for some and they are just unable to think logically when it comes to him. The evidence is there at this point, and there is a bit of a Nelson Mandela Effect going on when it comes to when he played in the past seasons and the influence he has had at certain times. There's a clear pattern that could be spotted by a child doing a paint by numbers exercise on W/D/L - particularly with form, and I have posted this previously.

I know there are some that absolutely love him regardless and don't want to hear it, so I'm not going to go on about it any more in this thread. The evidence is there if people really want to see it. Simply though, he has gone out of the team again, and we are playing well. I don't see how anyone can look at this current midfield that is performing as well as it is and decide to dismantle it to put such a player back in who's been a stand out disappointment this season. We seem to have fixed what is broken there, so why mess around with that again?

Is it commonly known? I've never heard of it and still don't understand any relevance to Mandela. What is misremembered about him?

For me we’ve got to learn to play with a back four. If in three weeks we’re still in touching distance of the playoffs I’d be tempted to just stick Sheaf and Haji in for Allen and Simms and call it a day.

If not i think id probably go:

Dovin
MvE Thomas Kitching Bidwell
Torp Sheaf Rudoni
Saka Wright EMC

I am probably wrong (I often am), but I really don't think we have a squad to play with a back 4.

You have an issue with sheaf it's that simple. You go overboard.

Let's not forget you trying to do the same thing with dovin and look how that turned out.

Absolutely agree, but I think our fullbacks are too exposed with Four at the back and we have no alternatives.

So, you haven't got any counter arguments then?

I was fair about Dovin, I've also said how well he's doing now. Your issue is that you make everything personal and run round this forum having pops at people. Give it a rest.

You dont have a good track record with player assessments that's all so not sure why you keep lecturing people about sheaf.

You have a point that some people think he's perfect but he is a good player and you should admit that he can be sometimes rather than make out he's total shit

Where did I get personal? The racist who liked your post is that dude my man

Tbf I came back at you with facts rather than opinion. I don’t see why we can't be playing well because Allen and Torp are playing exceptionally well and not because Sheaf is shit.

We'll never know of course, the same as those who have a narrative that we'd be somehow better or worse with Robins at the helm, let's support what's out there and performing.

Thanks I've googled it now. Seems very strange to me why anyone would be dumb enough to think he died in prison in the 80's when he had such a well publicised life after he left prison, let alone that this would then be used as a prime example of a common misconception

Anyway what about Sheaf?

I'm not interested in interacting with you. You're like a child and it's really quite boring. All you do is make snide comments, and you've been one of the worst for inflaming this stupid Lampard/Robins turf war as well.

You haven't got any counter points, so the rest is irrelevant. It can't be well to behave like this all the time, so I hope you can make some progress working on that for your own health and sanity.

Only play Sheaf if we want to slow the game to a snail's pace and increase turnovers.

Only Allen has a higher pass completion than Sheaf and plays a third as many passes and a third as many key passes per 90. And no through balls.

I'm always one to comment on people panicking and not seeing the bigger picture but tbf there is a big difference between 3 wins in a row and 3 losses in a row.

If we continue our form over the next 3 weeks then I'll assume we won't change much with how we're setting up formation/tactics.....although with the 3 back and getting them up to match fitness (especially Wright) will take a few weeks.
I think the rotation of the 4 CBs has been brilliant and keeping them all match fit will really help with the amount of fixtures we've got and expect the same to happen to the midfield/front 5.
My main concern is Milan being overworked with the LB/LWB being my next concern as think JDS isn't good enough imo.
If we steer clear of any significant injuries then we could be in a great position come end of February
