Looks like samoan Joe's is closing, the spongate has closed.

Other than the gym and the cinema, what else is left?

The whole premise is a bit out of date really. I'm wondering if the landlords want to completely reconfigure it

Guess with everything being centered at cathedral lanes and IKEA being sat empty as well.

It's a shame as it used to be heaving back in the day.

The new landlords have made a compelte mess of it. Whacked the service charges up but thousands a month assuming nobody there had any other option. Spoons were first to tell them to do one and others are following now.

Its always been a weird setup though with Ikea there. It feels like you have to go there specifically, which only really happens if you're going to the arena or cinema. There's no pedestrian flow, you're not going to pop there if you're going to cathedral lanes or the precinct.

Even worse now that city centre south has blocked off everything that side of town. Was in the city centre the other day and thinking the market is going to struggle in the years all this work is going on as they've pretty much closed off every route to it.

Casino?

As much as it seemed exciting at the time it definitely added to the down turn of the nightlife in the city centre.

Bulldoze the whole thing.

Big article about the market in today’s CET, taking’s are roughly down by 40%. It’s going to put people out of business.

Market is something else that seems to have been massively mis-managed. Its a great building but in a fucking state and just a random assortment of stalls in there.

Why they put Fargo where it is, which lets face it isn't the nicest area to go to with fuck all parking, rather than refurb the market building and use part of it for what is now Fargo is beyond me, would have totally revitalised the place and got people into the city centre.

they never should have built ikea there. or, having realised how shit it was, they should pull it down and stop trying to find another use for it.
the wave should be on that plot, making the whole area a family zone. cinema, ice rink, splash pool....

fargo should be the whole of far gosford street. close it to traffic, have a street market straight down the middle, and have areas, like where fargo is now, where you can have larger events. it was supposed to be our answer to brick lane, and that would have achieved it.
i would understand it if it meant building a relief road, but that's already been done.

another example of cov council not knowing which hole to shit out of. f**king clueless.
