How can any fan not want their team promoted. Couldn't give a shite who our owners are, promotion would be amazing.
I can't believe some of our 'fans' at times.
9. Are you sure? The only half decent signing has been Marshall. Both Seabourne and Webster have had their detractors and been part of one of the worst defences in the football league.
5) we finished more than 10 points off the play-offs - so nobody can blame ACL for "stopping us getting promoted"
I'm not sure that is so simple... Do you think we might have done a lot better on the run-in if we'd had something to play for?
Conversely we might not have done worse if we didn't have our backs to the wall.
To be honest, now I don't go to home games I am a bit removed from what is going on day-to-day at the club; the weekly ups and downs are now, in my mind, less important than the longer-term battle to see the back of SISU. From this point of view, 2013-14 will be seen as a successful result in people standing up to SISU. I say this because:
1) ACL /CCC hae refused to buckle - SISU have gone to the lengths of JR to drag things back
2) crowds at Northampton have not risen as predicted by Timmy - the boycott of those "home" games makes me so proud to be a CCFC fan
3) we did not get promoted; you might think it strange for me to say that as a City fan, but in the longer term this is good as promotion would have helped SISU in their battle to cement their position
4) we did not get relegated - obviously would have been a total disaster for the fans and the long term future of the club, even if it did mean bye bye SISU in the short term
5) we finished more than 10 points off the play-offs - so nobody can blame ACL for "stopping us getting promoted"
6) the above also means that the "xxx years since a top 6 finish" stat won't be muddied by "well, without hte points deduction we would have done..."
7) the team has shown in flashes on the pitch that there is a brighter future
8) SP is showing himself to be a determined and decent manager
9) a higher than usual proportion of our signings were good, meaning that Waggott is doing his job right
10) with the teams joining the L1 from Champ / L2 next year, the division looks a bit weaker which should help us.
From a personal point of view, promotions/relegations have been good because I want to go to Rochdale, Rotherham and Chesterfield to boost my total of "grounds visited in the 92" to 90 - the only ones I will need to do then will be Newport and Sixfields with CCFC. So although I will be stranded on 91, I take comfort from that fact that I originally completed the 92 back in 2010!!
And you call yourself a fan/supporter?
I read some absolute 'tosh' on this site but your thread 'takes the biscuit'!
As a long standing supporter I am not in any position (just like yourself) to choose the who owns my club.
I can have an opinion about them but it won't make the slightest difference about when owners come or go. Over almost 60 years I don't recall particularly liking many (if any) of our previous owners.
So many seem to be missing the point, owners, managers & players have come and gone over those 60 years but I'm still a lifelong fan who attends matches and continues to support the manager, his staff & the players of my club, Coventry City FC.
PUSB!

We don't miss the Northampton 'point.'
Non of our previous owners took us out of the city.
IMHO they had no choice, the rental situation will never ever work, just everyone associated with the game agrees and sees that. Not a single one of the 92 clubs will exisist unless they own their own ground and control ALL the incoming revenue streams, FACT!
Since the council wouldn't even discuss a rent reduction but will now rent the Arena to WBA & Leicester Development Groups for £1,750 speaks volumes!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure it will all be revealed from 10th June, can't wait.
RFC, would you still support CCFC if they moved 100 miles out of Coventry?
I am wondering if there would be a limit for your support of the club.

Its the $64,000 question.
Do you support the club because it is the first club you went to or do you support the club because it is from your home town.
It does show some contempt for fans if what skybluetony176 is true that it would be 'Anywhere but Coventry'.
Support them because my dad did, if he had supported Liverpool then I probably would have supported them.
Not really fussed as Coventry as a city other than the football team.
Well being brought up supporting them from about 1 or 2 or since I can remember it was always on the cards that I would support them.
Do I feel passion to Coventry as a city? I would be lying if I said I did.
I guess maybe I am soulless, but I am certainly not going to get upset if things happen to the city (not the team). I would think "thats a shame" and carry on with what I was doing.
With other sports teams, I would of course want the Coventry team to win but not going to lose any sleep if they didn't.

Just out of interest Nick, would you support the club if the name of the club got changed to another location?
I carry a pride for my city, I do get annoyed if bad things happen to the city and feel proud when good things happen.
Yet if a new stadium was built a mile outside the boundary I would not be particularly outraged over the location. As long as a the people of Coventry can get there.
I would be more annoyed if it was inferior to the Ricoh and if it lumbered us with 75 million plus debt that no one can produce a business plan as to how it will ever be cleared.
(Attending Sixfields does not prolong our stay at Sixfields. It is in fact one of life's greatest paradox's. Well that's not strictly true but if it makes you feel better ........)
What would you think if the owners of the club wouldn't even consider any place in Coventry before looking elsewhere outside her borders?

I am not anti SISU. But I am anti just about everything that they have done the last few years. They have the right ideas, but they go about them in the wrong way and don't care about anyone or anything other than money. We would be a lot better off if they didn't try steam rolling through everyone and everything.
I will never shout SISU in, but if they showed more respect and turned our club around I wouldn't be so unhappy about them being at our club. The first thing that they should do is bring our club home.
