damnnnn what a game to pick lol

i used to hate going when blaze first started off because i watched NHL alot and the local fans used to say stuff like "square it" and "man on" lol. i would imagine they are more educated on the sport now.

There used to be two lads who tried to get football songs going in there which didn't catch on, until one game against Nottingham when after the Blaze come from behind had the whole arena singing "your not singing anymore" at the Panthers fans. Was probably the best atmosphere I've known in there.

Aren't Coventry Blaze a renaming of Solihull Blaze, uprooted from their natural home, moved to Coventry then renamed?

Nice to see that you don't really mind that sort of thing then.

I was thinking the same thing.... Especially with a couple of the same fans saying they wouldn't go if it was slightly out of Coventry but are big fans of a club that actually has been moved full time and renamed.

SISU don't run the Blaze though so they aren't fussed.

Im sorry, I didn't realise Ice Hockey was intertwined with the community on which its based.

Football is the main representative of the town. Ice Hockey isn't.

Anyway I'm not entirely comfortable with that part of the Blaze's past, but there is a slight difference in that the Blaze were a little more than 30 years old when they moved, not 130.

30 years is hardly time for it to become a historical part of the towns fabric.

30 years is still a long time.

Maybe if SISU ran the Blaze then your blind hatred for everything would make you not like them too?

If Sisu ran the Blaze they would no longer exist.

Read up on how the Blaze management dealt with their rent dispute, and you will see how competent businessmen deal with such things.

So as long as you agree with the business practice, stealing a club from another town is ok. Nice to know.

I actually used to go ice skating in Solihull and watch them play. Never bothered when the Cov Blaze started though.

So you think that an Ice Hockey club is as integral to a city/town as a professional football club?

That being the case, why wasn't you putting pressure on Solihull Council to do something to help the Blaze back in the mid 90's?

It's a matter of opinon, Football may be the national sport, it does not mean however that every one person in the City finds that organisation integral, if so you'd find 300,000 people would sign the petition and we have bigger attendances.

I fail to see why we are even talking about the Blaze. It's irrelevant to our situation. What other clubs/teams/sports do should not influence what we do.

As an aside, i see that the Blaze are now in financial trouble again (according to Wiki anyway, i dont claim to know anything about them, not interested) so there uprooting to another town didn't do them any favours in the long run.

I agree, and I'm not saying that all that happened with the Blaze was right. Just that the football club over its 130 year history forged itself as being part of the fabric of the city in a much greater way than the Blaze ever did in Solihull.

I'm surprised at that because BFRSBA has just said the Blaze is run by competent businessmen.

I'm not aware of any financial difficulties at present. I think Wikipedia is two years out of date.

Fair enough, I did say i had no knowledge/interest in them.

My point still stands though, the rights or wrongs of their move/situation are irrelevant. The only situation that counts is our own and the rights and wrongs of our decision.

Agreed, but like I said if so many people cared about it sign the petition or go on march, considering that we only had 15,000 sign it after 30,000 attended the JPT and a population of 300,000 shows that most people couldn't care, we do of course it's in our nature.

ice hockey in NHL is based on franchises, alot of them have moved to different cities quite often so blaze past doesn't bother me.

You can express your opinion however you like, whenever you like. Expect it to be challenged though.

"because I have an opinion" is such a last resort meaningless thing to say.

The Ricoh is the best stadium in the midlands.

Villa park - yes its bigger but its old and skanky.

Leicester - simular but the ricoh has better facilites. I.e. casino etc.

Notts forrest - old poo hole.

Derby - ok but not a patch on the ricoh.

Birmingham city - dour dour place.

The Ricoh stands up to anything else in the midlands.

it may be the best stadium in the midlands, but without Coventry city fc playing there it makes it a nonentity in my eyes.

Are you basing that on how new the fixture and fittings are? Some of those grounds have soul and history.

I don't mind my opinion being challenged with other opinions. We only go round in circles and in reality the only opinions we need to change are Sisu's.
I am with 90% of fans in my thinking but that is irrelevant to Sisu.

Problem is your opinions differ so wildly depending on which day of the week it is you could have the forum to yourself just arguing with yourself.

My opinions have never changed. They may vary depending on what depths Sisu go too, but basically its revolves around 'Playing at the Ricoh or nothing'.
Now whats your stance because its not clear what your aim is. We know what you don't want but what do you want?
