It's a good result considering we started off 10 points behind everybody else. According to the consensus on here, we were as good as down after the Crawley match.

Completely agree but your post lost it's merit due to the awful grammar and spelling.

season to be proud of in terms of managers and players. we are 6th right now based on performances and true pts accumulated.

It's a relief that we've ground out some points while playing shitty recently, especially with a few clean sheets. I'd take that over glorious failure at the moment.

Typical City.....looks like we might just achieve a top 6 finish for the first time since 1967.....only it won't be.....

I'm incline to agree it's been a decent season, but are we aiming too low to think scraping into the playoffs is good form for a club in its first two seasons at this level?

I'd have thought most would put us in the top 6 squads at the start of the year.

On the contrary, we were a team full of kids remember, Wilson was completely unproven at that point.

Just desserts for breaking the lease. They definitely shouldn't have been able to get away with that without a points deduction

totally agree. It's the old mantra of knowing more about you're own squad and others and therefore think they are better on paper than they actually are.

You look at the ages of the majority of the starting 11 when we kicked off the season

Clarke 21
Christie 20
Willis 18
Adams 21
Thomas 19
Fleck 21
Wilson 21

Fair point. But we did have the leagues top scorer, and the likes of a Fleck, Murphy, Moussa, Baker, Christie.

It's an honest question, I don't really know how our squad compares, I was just wondering what people expectations would be in a "clean" season.

Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah...that's what I say to those Sky Blues bastards. Who the hell do they think they are anyway? I hope "THEY" get relegated a hundred times on the trot. I wish the points deduction had been five times the amount it was.

If we keep Moussa, Wilson and Murphy then I would say a definite top ten and "maybe" a play off place next season. I really do think that we have the base of a good squad.

The top scorer as he is currently. He wasn't then and had only scored once. Clarke was obviously a strength but we had no other strikers apart from those 2 at that point. On the opening day we had only 1 recognised centre half!

Baker and Christie had far better seasons last season in fairness. They've both been rubbish for most of this one.

...though Peterborough have 2 games in hand on us.
Agreed though - still a good season, football-wise, all things considered.

What is the base for the good squad we have? Two of the above you mention have been told that no contract talks will take place until the end of the season. Do you think they will sit and wait on a promise from a club that isn't good at keeping promises? Christie looks like he is leaving and the rest of the defence is hardly solid, the midfield has looked shaky at times and needs strengthening and our only decent player is on fire and will certainly attract other attention (not saying he will definitely leave but there is a good chance) and the rest of the squad is loans (who are shit by the way). So again, what is the base of a good squad? I love to see people who really know their football.

Oh I see, as Torchy has a differing opinion to yours, he knows nothing about football.

What are you on about? It's the fact he say's we have the base of a good squad and we don't. Is it that hard for you to understand?

We don't? We would be sixth without the ten point deduction. Does that not suggest we do. And if you read my original post you will see I wrote "if we keep..."

Why is that so hard for you to understand? Moff is right.

Cant you read? I understand you are a dick though.

At least Torchy goes to games so he can see the team play, must be easier for you to judge though from your armchair.

Oh and one last thing, do you think we have the base for a good squad bearing in mind what I have put in my post (which you didn't disagree with), or do you just blindly write things because you want to single someone out because what I said was against one of your 'friends'?

This is a weird argument. It clearly says 'if we keep these players it's a good base' which is somehow countered with 'if they go it isn't, so you're wrong'.

As opposed to blindly disagreeing with someone because they're not, do you mean?

Haha how old are you? Embarrassing!

I disgree with what you wrote, the fact it was written by you is neither here nor there, still enjoy the paranoia.

Yes, they could be the "base" (the word I used remember), the "building blocks". Carry on being argumentative with yourself, I've had enough.

we have not had a season without a friggen pts deduction yet in league one.

derailed playoff hopes twice and sapped momentum/focus at critical times.

next year if council dont hurt the club to hurt sisu we might have a chance of promotion.

Why am I a dick? Because I don't think 3 players is a base for a good squad. What the fuck are you on about going to games too? Have I not seen the team play this season? Have I not listened on the radio? Have I not seen them on the box? Have I not read the match reports in the papers? Torchomatic say's he goes to games because he wants to support the team and take his kid, does that alone make him an authority on a good squad?

You can disagree with me, of course, that's the point of a discussion forum. However you decided to make it personal with the "people who really know about football" comment and you continue with this reply too. You can argue your point without being insulting.

You seem to be arguing for the sake of arguing.

Agreed. Decent chance for promotion next season IMO. Think we're going to lose Moussa and Murphy but hopefully can keep Wilson.
