Of course but after 10 minutes it'll be cut up regardless

Yep. As soon as players start twisting and turning and get their studs embedded in it, it will quickly turn to be just as bad as it was before the roller was deployed.

Evidently Wasps can sort this out in the summer with a fully artificial pitch

Their Press Releases have said they have sorted it out multiple times already haven't they?

"This will be a hybrid reinforced pitch able to withstand the demands of both football and rugby matches, with a mixture of natural grass and synthetic fibres.

"To ensure the new pitch is kept in premium condition, the installation company will also be appointed as the maintenance contractor using their turf specialists. In addition, the installation company will be providing a specialist agronomist to work full time with the current ground staff to improve the pitch between now and the end of the year, and they will then have an on-going consultancy role until the end of the season.

"This is a major investment for Wasps and demonstrates their total commitment to ensuring the Ricoh Arena has the best possible playing surface for both the rugby and football clubs. Work will commence in the next couple of weeks prior to Wasps first game on 21 December."

genuine question, what is an optimum rugby pitch?, for some reason I would have thought it should be longer and a bit more rough than a football pitch ?

In all honestly I don't think they care. It's hardly a skilful game with optimum conditions needed

It helps that the ball is in the air so kinda agree.
But a lot of rugby grounds are going for fully artificial which cannot be used for high level football I believe.
If the football team were not here it is an option for Wasps.

If still relies on grass though for its looks if not integrity.
Not sure they have enough artificial lights to overcome for no sunlight and to stimulate growth.

So they aren't looking after the pitch properly? Why aren't the state of the art company they pay to look after it doing it?

The pitch was replaced in 2015 when a 3G XtraGrass surface was installed by Wasps.

It combines artificial and real grass to provide a more durable pitch. The cost of the project, which included upgrading the irrigation system and undersoil heating, was not revealed but deputy chairman Nick Eastwood described it at the time as “a substantial investment that demonstrates our commitment to give the football club what they need to get back to where we all think they belong.”

Why give it all that? It's been awful every winter.

No idea if thats the case, or if it's just that the excess water on it stops it growing and in effect it's temporary.
It seemed pretty flat on Sunday and just looked brown. The scrums didn't seem to throw up footmarks so perhaps its just superficial.
Time will tell.

They couldn’t care less, it’s just PR to make people happy. Rugby isn’t played on the ground so it doesn’t bother them either way.

Don't pitches get covered to prevent excess water though?

It is Brown as there isn't any grass.

So the aim is to get rid of us in a roundabout way ?
The increased rent should do it.

Have you considered Wasps might prefer a heavy pitch after all they paid for it.

That is what I would say is the biggest issue.
There used to only be one rack with about 8 lamps attatched.
Judging by the weekends images the two ends of the pitch up to and including the penalty areas seemed pretty green yet the band in between, probably 60% of the surface had next to none.

Wasps should sue the company who provided the pitch, isn't it supposed to withstand multi use without damaging the playing surface?

Brother just sent a text, he is watching Wasps in BT. Said to switch on and see the state of the pitch. It was poor yesterday but now looks like a muddy field. Not good for us going forward.
