Could it prove to be our downfall this season?

We like to play football and many sides who come here do not. The pitch is surely only going to get worse. It was cutting up and quite bobbly yesterday.

Could be we may have to change our tactics somewhat and go longer.

We are winning on it at the moment, but like I say, it's only going to get worse and it IS a concern.

Could you get Geoff to ask Robins about getting the pitch relaid ?

Do we really like to play football? I think we're quite direct this season, not necessarily long ball but we try and get the ball forward quickly. That said, it's not easy even to do that.

Looking at the state of the pitch. it's in an absolute mess for this time of year, has maintenance been curtailed in the Wasps / ACL cost cutting drive?

Barely any point in that is there? The problem being that with two teams there, the gap between matches to allow the pitch to bed in is too small. It'd be even worse.

Will definitley play into the hands of teams that want to park the bus and keep the ball in the air - yesterday the pitch looked like we were playing on a battlefield.

It really is shocking and will only get worse. The poor pitch at Port Vale was a huge factor in our loss. While we aren't necessarily a passing team, players like Bayliss, Grimmer, DKE, McNulty and Shipley would suit a better pitch.

As a tennant, do the club not have a right to ask for it to be improved? If you rented a flat it wouldn't acceptable for there to be a leak or no electricity.

It's poor all round at the Ricoh. I know we are only tenants, but we are quite obviously very low priority to our illustrious owners. Pitch shocking. Despite a poor attendance there's not enough staff/kiosks open, and even at the end of half time there are still queues. Barely half of the lights in thenstand are switched on, in the second half yesterday it was noticeably dark in the stand.

To be honest as long as we keep winning it doesn't really matter, and the pitch is the big one, the others are just observations.

It's the same every year. I'm sure Hull, Swansea etc. don't have the same problems.

I think we do. We certainly like to play the ball on the deck a lot. Sure, we do go a bit longer at times, but we are always trying to play little one twos.

The pitch is in a terrible state, not sure if its down to lack of maintenance or its just sub-standard to start with but its not going to make things easier that's for sure.

I've heard the quality of the pitch has put the 2nd loan into doubt as the player involved is concerned it'll ruin his game.....hopefully Lionel will have a rethink.

I hate it when they reveal next season's kit too early. It's not even the right blue!

Not to the extent of the Ricoh. Swansea always seem to have a good pitch.

The PR machine said it was the most technologically advanced pitch in the world, or some similar guff. The pitch at the Ricoh has struggled for a good few years now mind, even before the infestation of Wasps.

Won't be long until Andy Turner gets invited down to see them working on it for an article to be put out

Our pitch was in a shite condition yesterday and agree its a concern. Surely this is in the rental agreement about having a suitable pitch to play on??

But the Ricoh, in stadium terms, would surely be considered a furnished property. They are supposed to supply the staff and the groundsmen etc.

The ground in general is in poor condition for one of its age. It needs a repaint on its exterior, the dugouts no longer have a roof and the seats are always filthy.

It never stopped Derby and that pitch is a snooker table. Compared to the Baseball ground mud bath. I can still see John OHare skating across it now with the ball at his feet.

I don't care about the pitch, we don't pass it well enough to be entertaining anyway. I'd rather they fix the tanoy instead so I can properly enjoy whichever Coldplay song they decide to play for the 5 minutes before kick off when my iFollow kicks in. :emoji_fearful:

It's one of those things I always think about when the media or some fans try to make out the modern player is far fitter and better technically. It's bollocks, players in those days put up with pitches which were for half a season like a ploughed field, and evaded tackles that would have a modern player on the floor before it even came in. Also the ball they played with was heavier too.

You are right in all you say but a heavier ball would probably behave better on that pitch

We are as direct as we can be - which is fine - but there’s no subtlety in our game.

Are our players skillfully enough to notice.
After all we played Shit at Port Vale and their pitch was ok, we also were dreadful in the first half at Carlisle.

Funny how we talk about this every season we knew it would happen so why the shock.
