Just watched highlights on Sky Blue Player and was amazed at the state of the pitch which looked infinitely worse than when actually viewed on Saturday.

I've always thought CCFC's pitch and playing surface was one of the best in the league despite adverse weather conditions.

Turning into a right mud bath - partially responsible for our home form ???

I'd say they've run the heating too much and too high JR ,the Grass has been cooked off.

I also think its affecting our play ,the ball holds up on the mud and bobbles over the studmarks.wonder if thats why we don't play it on the deck anywhere near as much or effectively as we did before.

Lets be honest the weather hasn't exactly been kind recently has it?!
Look at the state of Man Utds pitch too.
Agreed that its not helping with our home form and our style of play.

. Our pitch has one of the best drainage systems in the country and i dont go for the rain ,snow etc we have had just as much in previous years . It is more than likely down to the amount of cash available for groundstaff and treatment of the grass. One man with a pitch fork and a lawn mower is not enough !!

Whose is it that employs and pays the ground staff?

ACL or CCFC?

Now if someone could answer that question we would at least have an idea to whats wrong. I reckon it is ccfc though (maybe).

Would the 12 games played during the Olympics have contributed to the state of the pitch now?

I've always thought it was ACL!

If it is ACL they could be employing less staff deliberately to try and piss off SISU.

It's something I'd do if I was them and someone owd me the odd million in rent lol

Petty yes but sadly effective!

Do believe our head grounndsman won the award for best kept pitch during the OLYMPICS and it was certainly in top order as we kicked off against Sheffield Utd.also believe he is employed by the club and turned down a transfer to the ARSENAL,I'm assuming the club recieve Contra payments from ACL when the pitch is utilised for ACL ventures.

It's just as good as most away pitches in the division still, doesn't effect us then

The Ricoh pitch has always been the best in the Championship, it would appear to have dropped down a division in sympathy with the team! On a more serious note MR had the team playing some nice passing football rather than League 1 hoofball but our pitch has certainly stopped that now, think we need a greenkeeper rather than a groundsman, either that or he's out cruising in his new "sponsored" truck

We usually grow a fresh pitch every season. I know that with the Olympics that couldn't have happened this year so I assume one and a half seasons plus a summer of football added on to the crazy weather we've been having have all taken their toll.

I reckon a retractable roof is what we need.

Anyone notice how the wings have grass on them, but the middle is just mud? Shows we don't like playing with Wing play / crosses etc!

Pitch is infinitely worse in the central area......too many midfielder's 4-5-1 is to blame... lets go 4-3-3..

We usually relay the pitch every season or two. We couldn't this year cause the timing of the olympics. The 12 games in the Olympics plus a Coldplay concert has give the pitch its wear and tear.

Also
When it snowed, the snow melts on the hot soil... Which is then played on and is churned up...

Not as bad as Blackpools though!!!!

I did a stadium tour in May and the pitch had been stripped of grass and just been redrilled with grass seed.
