One thing I'm not enjoying at the moment, is everyone having a take on us when clearly they don't have any knowledge of the league or what the club has been doing in the last decade. It's painful. Everyone has to have a take of course, because we're top and Lampard is involved.

If we were to get promoted, it's going to require some resolve to ignore all of the utter shit people chat in the media without having done any actual research or shown any real interest.

Bah humbug, would much prefer they stuck to agonising over the minutae of whatever the fuck is happening at Utd/Liverpool/Citeh etc than turn their mediocre opinion beam on us.

"Stick To Football" clearly doesn't narrow the scope quite enough for their capability.

Ian Wright “Coventry weren’t one of them clubs you thought were on the verge of making it” No mate just repeated top ten finishes and a playoff final and several predictions for promotion each season from pundits who actually watch the league.

The amount of “they were 17th!!” I’ve seen like we were fucking Sheff Wed or something.

“I was once fined £5,000 for calling Coventry fans wankers. Best £5,000 I’ve ever spent”

Tells you everything.

Agreed but it certainly beats the awkward questions of ‘who owns the ground now’ or ‘I remember when Coventry were in the Prem’.

I’ve never even seen my club play in the Prem

Could be worse, they could say...

"They're owned by Tom Brady and that annoying bald prick aren't they?"

Coventry City: Can anyone stop Sky Blues winning Championship?

Frank Lampard's Coventry City are 10 points clear at the top of the Championship and could create history - but will anything stand in their way?

I think Roy Keane was mixing up Brian Borrows with David Burrows and probably talking about Paul Telfer at Celtic

We're top of the league by 10 points having scored 50 goals... there is nothing much negative you can say? It's the most surface level commentary from all of them.

The only inkling of insight was Keane talking vaguely about ownership and how the club is run off the field, but none of them have any of the details to be able to talk about it.

I guess that's really what the overlap is though (first time I've watched a good chunk of it other than small clips) - a bunch of mates commenting on things they barely really know much about. It's what we all do down the pub, but I made the mistake of watching it because they are professionals in media & sport .

Them trying to name random cov players from our prem days, fantastic content!

To be fair these days 99% of podcasts are just people with an audience trying to monetise it by sitting in front of a mic for an hour and chatting to some mates. Very rarely are they particularly insightful.

There's a whole generation of fans who only know Coventry City as a Championship and a lesser extent a league one club! Myself have nothing but fond memories of our unbroken 30+ years in the top flight, in which time I believe only Everton and Arsenal along with us were the only teams that never got relegated in that period! Yes everyone else including Man Utd, Man City, Leeds, Wednesday and so on were all at some point relgated!
A club built up by Jimmy Hill was made for the top flight, and so it was we cemented our place that any large city ought to be in.
But disaster struck and we found the bounce back theory was not a thing in those days. Hit with some very poor decisions, managers, useless chairmen, and culminating in a Hedge Fund ownership we were doomed to fail, as football started to hit the big bucks and leave us behind just at the wrong time. We built the stadium but that got messed up too. Total failure.
Finally we got things together under Mark Robin's. That went well, and it was always on the cards SISU would free us once they had something tangent to appeal to a buyer. back in the Championship, that was Doug, and he must of felt Ashley had little desire and ended up not wanting the stadium either but a quick flip and turn of profit. Bingo! Doug saw an opportunity and thank goodness he did. So, here we are now owning the stadium, producing a good team with investment, not selling, and bringing in a big name to add to the profile. It's worked so far. We can claim our place back at the top table having been so close the last few seasons. It's only right that clubs like us, and the likes of the Sunderland's of this world belong at the top table. The first division as it was known then, was all I ever knew growing up until that disasterous day, and no one imagined the long stretch we would have to endure before we finally get a chance to put things right.
I hope we make it, its not a given yet. The odds look good, and if we do lets also hope we don't get to be a yo yo club.

Do we know if the guy with the We'll Be Back sign at Villa Park is still with us.
It would be lovely if he is and to be able to hold up a We Are Back sign when we finally go back to the top table.

Here is an article on him

Coventry City: 'Banner Man' revisits the club's relegation from the Premier League

Coventry City fan John Mullaney is hoping the club can return to the Premier League after he witnessing their relegation from the top flight in 2001.
