Worth a thread.

What random sports will we get fleetingly hooked on for the next (however long the Olympics lasts)?

Controversies already afoot, the racist Argies pelted with "missiles". They are using VAR with the longest wait for an offside ever. An comrade of mother Russia has schemed to disrupt and one off our horse faced elite has been banned for thrashing a horse and is serving a ban from the dancing horses event.

Discus.

I've been hearing buzzing now for weeks on end, but as I share a house with 3 women, I just put it down to potential vibrators.

Would be better if it went on a bit longer. You could get into more sports randomly.

I always seem to get enamoured by the badminton.

I like the velodrome cycling and some of the track events. Don't care for swimming, show jumping, weightlifting or gymnastics

I will dip in and out of it.

I quite like stuff like the BMX cross and I've heard there a similar event in the kayak, so think I'll watch that.

Don't tend to enjoy the swimming or the running as I find them a bit dull. Diving can always be a laugh tho.

The Rugby 7s is a good watch, already down to the Semis.

Fiji snuck passed Ireland and are on to retain their gold for a 3rd Olympics

Why do some events start before the opening ceremony has taken place?

Always seems strange to me.

Normally just ones like football and rugby where playing all the games they need in the two weeks would destroy the players.

Oh yeah forgot about that saga!

Looks fine but I doubt the Stade de France grounds people had to buy their turf from B&Q

I remember Lee Trundle saying about a format they played in a US tournament where if somebody is winning at the end of the game they keep playing until the team in the lead score again or if the other team come back and win.

Encourages teams to go for it.

Not sure I like this new opening ceremony style, out on the river. Much prefer the traditional 'walking into the stadium'.
