How on earth did Bills' defence leak 44 points against the 6-6 Rams?
KC lucky again to win the West. Eagles not much better.

Again, Mahomes made it all look so simple at the end though didn't he. He just has this uncanny knack.

The Rams were scoring at will at one point. I think the Bills always have a wobble in them

Bills showed up Detroit's defensive frailties last night. Play-off picture far from complete, but i reckon it will be Bills-Chiefs and Lions-Eagles in the Championship games, although the Vikings are in with a shout and play the Lions (possibly for the NFC North) in the last game of the season.
Is "resting" players much of a thing in the NFL? Eagles have the hopeless Giants at home in the last game, and i wonder if they might rest a few key players for the play-offs. Having said that, they will probably need to win that game to be in with a shout of home-field advantage.

Josh Allen MVP performance. Lions picking up injuries but not a total surprise result. Lions had quite few last gasp wins recent weeks.

Teams that have secured their seeding do tend to rotate - wouldn't expect to see Mahomes last game of the season. Also tanking teams tendto rotate for higher draft positions.

But the NFC seeding will be pretty close before the last game between Detroit, Minnesota and Philly, unless something drastic happens in the next couple of weeks, so they will all want to win. I think Vikings may reckon they will have a chance after seeing Detroit's weaknesses last night.

Not sure our defense is good enough to hold them under 40 pts the way their offense played

Not sure any team can stop Allen right now the way he is playing, I know they lost the week before but last night was an insane game and brilliant performance from both teams. The onside kick was a poor call at the time but a inch or two higher and was in the hands of of a Lions player.

I was surprised to see the onside kick with so much left on the clock, but i guess they thought the Bills might have taken the same approach Philly did against Pittsburgh and just hold on the the ball and wind the clock down in the 4th.

I still remember him kneeling down instead of spiking the ball causing us to lose a game

I remember that very clearly because as they set up I said to my sister "he's going to kneel it!" Dunno if there is just something slightly different in the set-up of both that I noticed subconsciously but I knew he was going to fuck it up.

And it is mad that that kind of error would be enough to end a lot of people's careers in the NFL yet he's managed to get two massive deals that were massively above what he was worth. They just seem to have such a fascination with the name and ignore actual performances right in front of their face.

He’s a stats superstar.

Nobody actually looks into the reality though and sees it’s garbage time stats or beating up on bad teams.

He folds as soon as he’s faced with anything decent.

Washington have been in QB hell for years since he left but the whole idea of the sport is to win the Super Bowl and you’re never going to get there paying such an average QB such a lot of cash.

Keep making this QB pay argument. Only 3 or 4 are worth the big money. 15 QBs over 20%of salary cap on their teams. Mahomesthe onlyQB in history to win a SB at over 13% of salary cap. There's already 9 QBs on this list who probably won't even make the play-offs.
Cousins has really good players around him at Atlanta. Does keep proving immobile QBs are a weakness.

I think Hurts has started to learn how to be more mobile, and it has improved the Eagles' offensive yards, but he does avoid contact of any kind due to him being worried about getting injured like he did 2 years ago.
I was looking at the Head Coaches' pay deals earlier this week, and some of them are absolutely stealing a living! Antonio Pierce at Raiders getting paid 2.5x as much as Dan Campbell at Detroit is barking! Should definitely be performance-related!

Wow - that is an amazing stat, I'll bet most of the General Managers and Owners pay decisions don't reflect that

Pardon my ignorance, but what, then, is the definition of "cap" in this context?? "Something not to be exceeded" would be my guess. But as long as you are popular you can ride rough-shod over it???

NFL has a hard cap. Also includes money owed to former players.

What a win for the Commanders.

Turned the ball over 5 times, but yet still pulled out a win with mere seconds left.

Hurts missing from a large chunk of the game due to concussion, was a huge factor of course, but it was still a fabulous win all the same

Still 36pts against League's no 1 PT defense.

Great game, Eagles and Commanders seeing who could give the other team the biggest presents at Christmas time.

After all Washington's turnovers, ultimately Devonta' Smith wide open drop proved decisive.
Credit to Daniels for ultimately finishing it off with the game winning drive after some great scrambles.

Looks like Vikings gonna capitalise in the race for home field advantage

Pickett didn't do too much wrong when he came in for Hurts, but it was a bad day for the Philly defense - it's been on the cards for a while. Luckily they only have to face the Cowboys then Giants so SHOULD finish 14-3, but they should have won last night!

Hurts injury cost them the game, it’s a real dilemma for mobile QB’s versus someone like Goff who just cannot do it. I think Mahomes moves far less now unless it’s by design, he stays and when they blitz, he identifies where the extra man has come from and has educated his receivers to be ready as one has to be free or at worst, 1-1 coverage.
i think they need mobility and it will cost the lions but equally, injured in a big game with the stand in having to come in could be far worse.

Hurts is only just re-learning how to be mobile again after his injury at the end of the regular season in 2022 - it has been on his mind ever since. I'm looking forward to the Steelers beating KC tomorrow! I think Goff's play action library is a thing of beauty - but Allen's mobility is off the scale!

Don't follow Washington but I fully endorse this. Jayden is my fave other QB in the league, I love watching him play ball.

Must be so stressful to watch for the committed though, he was the Commanders whole rushing attack in the last game or at least the only effective bit of it.

The roster needs so much work, without Jayden it’s a very poor team and they do nothing so you really want to keep him healthy.

Best thing about him though is that he’s a great pocket QB too, his first inclination isn’t to run but he can if he wants to. His anticipation on throws is amazing and he has the patience to stand and take a hit while his receivers get free. The running is just an added bonus.

Totally agree, he so wants to be throwing which many of the ones coming through don’t, running has to be the last option, they need to build around him, I have loved watching him this year.

Wilson had a poor game last night for Pittsburgh, and their D left Kelce uncovered far too much. Made it look easy for KC.

Jeezus - just sat through all 8 minutes of "highlights" of last night's game between Seahawks and Bears. Awful level of quality! They were vaunting Caleb Williams for not having thrown an interception in 354 passes. That's probably because he doesn't get to pass it that often, being sacked 67 times this season. Definitely the reason behind Chicaaaaago's AWFUL season!

His accuracy isn't great. He's got 3 good WRS and a decent tight end so his completion rate of 60% is poor. O line is poor but he holds the ball too long and his progression reads are slow. He's still got potential but a lot of work to do there.
I think we've dropped at least 4 fairly simple interceptions in our 2 games against the Bears.

I was fearing the worst when i saw it was only 8 minutes, when they usually manage to find about 15 minutes-worth for most games. I suspect the NFL YT channel will just re-badge it as the "worst plays of week 17" reel!

He’s a better player so I’m not making the comparison that way but the discussion is very similar to Sam Howell at Washington last year.

Won a few games early on but took/takes a hell of a lot of sacks. Fans blame the O-Line and detractors blame the QB. In reality a bit of both.

This year at Washington a small change on the line has seen much fewer sacks because the QB has much better situational awareness.

I hope Williams ends up succeeding because the league is a bit shallow on top QB play atm. I do have my worries about him though, mainly around personality and desire. I’m not bothered by the painting nails like a loads of righty idiots in America are, I just hated it on draft night when asked why he was the guy that would turn them round he said “because I care, because I have heart”. That sort of answer has a lack of awareness that all of them care and you have to put an incredible amount of work in to succeed at the next level.

Part the problem is he came into the league rich (reported to have made 10/12 million whilst in college) . There were the quotes from his father (who I think is his adviser) that they wanted a percentage of whichever team drafted him. There's a sense of self-entitlement.
He's got a strong arm, runs well but often loses that advantage by not making quicker decisions after the snap.
He'll get better coaches next year then it's if he learns from them
Also strange they didn't get an experienced QB onto the roster to back him up / help him out. I get keeping Bagent but a veteran QB3 could possibly have helped a lot.
