Fans were at it again Saturday there seems to be a rumour we are returning to Ricoh sometime in October - does anyone knows if there is any substance to this rumour

Not sure how much truth is in this but heard that the casino are not happy about losing the income from CCFC matches that they
are refusing to pay the rent deal to wasps plus the hotel group are doing the same.
This could all be pie in the sky stuff but what if this is true.

for it to be true one of the parties would have to change their position and to the best of my knowledge that is nowhere near happening wish i was wrong

Whilst I would like to return to the Ricoh, (well Coventry to be fair), the pitch is no good. We played better football at Northampton and we seem to be doing alright at St Andrews. It's a dilemma

The fact is the gates could be over 20k if the good season continues and that’s a hell of a lot of money and income for everybody including ccfc. The casino for example must be dead on a Saturday afternoon when it could be rammed with hundreds of punters.

I have no idea on any rumours but I think there is a lot of truth in the fact that this situation can’t continue. Something has to give and fairly soon.

No chance.

As an example, we would return to the Ricoh for the Rotherham game on the 4th January, the crowd would be circa 20k-25k, we will win and then the game the weekend after at home against MK Dons will dwindle back to 10k-11k

Exactly what happened last time against Gillingham and Yeovil respectively.

An Urban myth that we’d get 20,000 on a regular or even irregular basis.
We haven’t for decades (40 odd years) barring the first season at the Ricoh when everyone had season tickets as a one off.

I’d think 14-15k is realistic for a successful season

If we were to return it would need to be on our own terms with access to all revenue, including future stadium sponsorship rights. If we were back in the Championship they’d be potential for increased revenue through sponsorship which we should have the majority of.

At the moment we’d have a glass ceiling over us imposed by them.

Loads of different points here.
*better football Northampton-
Presley got lucky with the players he had at his disposal (L Clarke, Christie, Fleck etc) and a Callum Wilson coming through and starting to score goals. Clarke goes and Wilson injured, wheels come off badly.
*20k gates-
Under Mowbray gates crept up... 17.5k versus Burton (Jan?)... that was the peak and fell away as we were already dropping points left right and centre and continued to do so.... could have gone up...who knows... but took until Jan to hit that. We are in August.
*Situation can't continue and something has to give soon -
Wasps season hasn't even started. We have no idea what gates they will get or how they will do... that may give us some indication of how their business is planning out...
They have been hammering PR around the whole Midlands, especially Birmingham looking to pick up more custom.
*Casino losing money-
Just signed a new 10 year deal (hopefully on reduced terms!) but did state they would like CCFC to be there in their press release. (Something the Ricoh arena initted in theirs!)
*Wasps getting Millions in TV money
Yes, 17mill or something... but some has to be put into infrastructure.. don't know all details but this is a lot for them to recieve... far more than they would from us being there for a number of seasons!
*Vodafone -
New sponsor.....how good a deal, nobody knows... rumours of stadium naming deal too... but also rumours that is stalling as CCFC are not there and that would bring more exposure..
*Boddy -
Making NO noises even on Saturday about a return, in fact, quite the opposite when asked.
*Indemnity and coucil
Coucil want club to fail. Wasps still in full on circle-jerk with coucil so as the council have bent over to get Wasps here and into Ricoh... they will be scratching each others back and more!

SO..... nobody can call this... everybody can speculate! Looking at what I have seen mentioned, the only thing I think might have legs is the Vodafone stadium deal. How much sway this can have is anybody's guess.

I hate Wasps and want them to fail, so us teaming up with a share in the Ricoh would be a bad Idea if they are a struggling business. I think CCFC are playing a longer game and seeing how Wasps will be affected.

No immediate return in my opinion!

Not really. We were averaging over 20K in the 1st 3 seasons at the Ricoh, and getting over that on an irregular basis all the way up to relegation. We also averaged over 20K in our last 4 seasons in the PL.

But yes, we wouldn't get close to that regularly this season if we returned, perhaps only the last couple of games if we were pushing for automatics.

We weren't getting even 20k when we were playing in the premier league for most games.

The EU decision will be the decider and until then we are nomads of the EFL

The biggest issue as far as I am concerned is the playing surface. We are playing a type of football well above normal league 1 norms. It won’t always work when we come up against destroyer teams but we have a much better chance on a decent surface. In any return to The Ricoh this has to be high on the negotiating agenda. Wonder how much MR would be consulted

We've not played a 'big' team at St Andrews yet......Attendance will be 10k+ for 3 or 4 games i reckon. Would love to see behind the goal open.

I thought Saturday would be a big indicator on our ‘home’ support, holiday weekend, nice day, good result with all the circumstance at Portsmouth and it indicates 5kish home support, can’t count away, will be as good as it gets so sad and so unnecessary.

I think it's pretty clear we are better off without the Ricoh.

Things have looked up on-the-pitch-wise since we went to St Andrews.

We should stay where we bloody well are.

Neither side is going to find it easy to back down. The possibility of legal cases will still be available in October, unlikely EC will have completed their investigation by then. (Caveat is that a no deal brexit might make the investigation irrelevant... no one knows for definite). I dont see how they get a deal done.

To be honest all the comments etc from the club seem to indicate staying in Birmingham to me. For this season and perhaps much longer.

I'm not sure that, for stay at home fans who have been raised on Premier League football, there are any big clubs in L1

Is it true that Wasps are laying a 4G pitch, if so does it comply with efl regs, also have heard Wasps have reduced season ticket prices to £200, i don't know what they charged before just something i heard at work

Does anyone know if the ten year extension is signed on the same terms or not.

There's got to be some reason for the bond price to be in constant free fall, and falling much more rapidly than usual recently.
