Randomly I was having a conversation about him the other week and as has been said it's a long way to go but he definitely has the talent and by all accounts is loving his time at Cov.

Let’s be honest, he’ll be another that is snapped up a by a bigger club before he’s turned 17.

Based on a full 90min game thats a goal or an assist every 35 minutes!

He prob hasnt played every minute of every game so that stat will be even better!

Something seems structurally wrong. He can be a scholar but until he is 16 he is effectively on our books in the shop window for the premiership talent factories to hoover up and waste his potential. While i understand the financial draw, I hope he can personally see the progress george sheppard has made this season and is keen to follow that pathway into the first team. It's highly unusual but as we have seen woth rooney and more recently Max Dowman at Arsenal, if you genuinely are good enough you can get to play first team football in your mid teens, and it would be amazing to have someone with that level of potential at the club that young fans can be inspired by.

If/when we go up it's imperative we upgrade the academy to Lvl1 to stop other teams taking our best youngsters. We've lost youth players to Man City, Man Ure, Chelsea, The Vile and Incester over the past 10 years. While they still might try and take them It would cost them considerably more and be a deterrent to spend a couple of million on a youngster rather than a coup!e of 100,000.

Hope the lad continues to do well and that his parents ensure he’s nurtured and grounded well in what can be a cut throat business. Hopefully with us of course!
“Kayden Smith , he’s one of our own”

What are the rules regarding level 1 academies and transfers ? Does having a level 1 academy automatically mean you get a higher fee ?

It's a complicated system depending on the level the player plays at, how long they have been at an academy etc.
The article below explains it better than I can and gives some examples.

Compensation for Academy Players — Football Law

This article explains when compensation is payable in respect of academy players moving from one club to another, the role of the Professional Football Compensation Committee in respect of the same, and considers the record amount of compensation awarded recently for Harvey Elliott’s move from Fulha

I would imagine it's something Doug would be keen to do. It increases the value of the club and would likely pay for itself with the talent we could play or sell

I remember chatting with STP about Jonny Ngandu and Will Bapaga when they were 15/16 and being convinced they were both going to be superstars and our next Maddison’s.

Meanwhile Josh Eccles, who was on no one’s radar as an elite prospect, has made 184 appearances for the club.
