That is absolutely true if they can’t wothdraw the complaint. That’s a fact. I suppose they could have mentioned it before going into discussions. Doesn’t help us though as ccfc

It's not meant to help CCFC.

It's meant to be a front that can shift the blame.

I know that. The intention isn't to let people think that.

Just like it wasn't when out of 17 sites, Wasps wanted to pick the one the academy was at and try to force the academy to move away as part of a Ricoh agreement.

Actually i would like to see City go to a groundshare somewhere simply to see how long it takes Wasps to fold or fuck off! SISU still wouldn't buy the Ricoh for £27mil though!

He's been caught out shit stirring before hasn't he? Surely it wouldn't be St Andrews or the Butts at this stage. They'd know by now if the Butts was viable or not for next season.

I suspect the Council will try everything to block the Butts now, on the same basis as Wasps walking out of the Ricoh negotiations.

Can the CCC block the Butts? I thought it was down to the owner of the Butts?

Do you remember when this was mooted before, and CCC tried to insist there are restricted covenants on the use of the land/stadium preventing its use by a professional football club? I'd expect to see that sort of approach again, or just preventing a licence.

They could make things very difficult.

Didn't CCFC say the groundshare agreed had a very strict timescale on it? Might explain why if it was the Butts.

Would be interesting to know what the timescale was and when it expires / expired.

Maybe they still think the negotiations are ongoing (as per their statement yesterday), and won't be saying anything because of confidentiality agreements that are in place!

I was told by multiple parties that have close links to Birmingham City that talks between BCFC and CCFC had broken down in April. This was another reason why the Ricoh was the only option for the club. I was also told that the cause of this was the commercial arrangement by one party and the rental agreement from another so unsure whether it’s specifically either one or all of the above. But regardless it was left less than positively. Not sure what the situation is with the Butts, but like you said realistically they’d know if the Butts was viable by now so this leaves a pretty huge question mark as to where we’re playing next season.

Obviously I’m not sure what the situation is with the St. Andrews ground share negations currently as that conversation happened over 3 weeks ago now but I thought I’d share what I know regardless.

Was the EC complaint the deal breaker or was it the final straw?
It has been suggested a couple of times that maybe Wasp's could be wanting to include some assurances that SISU would never again restart any legal actions. This would make sense from their point of view, otherwise Sisu could just at some point find something else to batter them in court with. Would Sisu agree to such terms?

could sisu sell the club with this going on in the back ground??? Guessing it won’t be the statement we are expecting but what if that was what they intended to do?? How would wasps see this situation with different owners but this review taking place??

I'd rather the Butts than St Andrews. Anything that keeps the club in Cov and a better financial footing.

Can't see it happening but I'd be more than happy if it did. If we're paying someone rent would much rather it be CRFC.

This is uncharted territory I guess so I'm not surprised we haven't heard from the club. The position of Wasps/CCC has always been along the lines of 'do this and we'll talk'. What can the club do at this point? They cannot possibly provide some sort of indemnity to Wasps that protects them against a negative ruling, and they can't undo the complaint made to the EC. CCFC is stuck in the middle of this and yet some people still cannot differentiate the club and all it represents from the people who own it. Unless Wasps see sense and re-open talks, we're fucked. Whether it is too late to re-open negotiations with Blues I don't know, but the club is in a very precarious position right now, it's as bleak as it has ever been.

The ideal outcome would be a groundshare with CRFC, but I cannot see that there is the time for that to be put in place in time for next season.

Hopefully Wasps will have the sense to step back from their game of brinkmanship, because the backlash against them will be ugly if they don't.

The butts would be the ducking dream. Especially if we can partner with CRFC in some welsh to benefit us both while London Wasps crash and burn.

If there's one small positive that might come out of this, it's that the eyes of some people will be opened to the fact that Wasps are a bunch of parasitic shysters.

Trusts statement.

The Sky blue trust were appalled by yesterday’s news that, because of a complaint to the European Commission by Sisu, filed as long ago as February, talks over a new agreement for the Sky Blues to play home games at the Ricoh have broken down.

"Wasps have been clear that they would only enter such discussions if no legal action relating to the Ricoh was taking place.

"The discussions started when, in mid-April, the Supreme Court rejected sisu's latest Judicial Review case.

"Sisu should not be surprised that Wasps reacted strongly to news of the complaint to the EC when it came to light.

"A complaint about an alleged breach of EU law, which may lead to an order by the european court of justice requiring repayment of any unlawful state aid is clearly a form of legal action.

"Throughout this dreadful period for Sky Blue fans, the Trust have urged all parties to work together to seek agreement to the continued use by the club of the Ricoh Arena.

"We had hoped that both sides would enter into discussions in an atmosphere of honesty and transparency.

"We urge them to resume talks on that basis.

"With 13 days left before the English Football League’s EGM, we implore Sisu and Wasps to do everything in their power to resolve their differences.

"If they fail to do so, the EFL will be considering just two unpalatable options - to agree to Coventry City home games being played outside the City or to expel the Club from the EFL.

"We do not know how the EFL will now regard this matter.

"We do not know whether Sisu informed the EFL that they had complained to the European Commission back in February and, if they did not, how that will affect their decision.

"We hope and pray that this is not the last straw for Coventry City."
