I'm not bitter about him leaving or who he went to. But I do feel he was over rated. After his injury he wasn't everywhere and pressurising.
Are you Mystic Meg? he is now considered a brilliant buy. There's not a chance they'll give up on EMC by the end of the season, and they'd be mad to.
He's been underwhelming, but he's moved up a level and it takes time to adjust (he's also playing in a very unbalanced side). He may not be the type of player we should have spent big money on, but that doesn't mean he should be shipped out if his first season isn't the best.
Why?So that confirms Haji Wright's injury is worse than we thought.
Worse than you hoped for but the chances of him being ready for the subs bench before early Jan were always slim in my opinion. I still hope Wilson will be available for at least the bench for the Sheff Weds cup tie.So that confirms Haji Wright's injury is worse than we thought.
No, it’s called having patience. It’s an annual occasion where new signings are derided as ‘poor buys’ or ‘not good enough’ to then be subsequently proven wrong later on in the season. Are you Mystic Meg? he is now considered a brilliant buy.

Too many people say ‘I’ve seen enough of ‘x’ player’ what they actually mean is that they can’t shake off their first impressions.
Just look at how positively Bassette is viewed as a striker with 1 goal in 11 (and should have 3-4 easily) compared to say Simms last season over the start of his season.
Not really, The Championship is comfortably a top 10 league in the world. Good players for that level aren't cheap anymore.Thing is for the money we’ve paid for some we shouldn’t be waiting over a year for them to “click”. Frankly if you’re dropping more than £3M on a player they should be ready and if not you’ve spent too much.
Agreed. I didn't agree with you on BTA at the time but when we then went on to sign Bassette also, who clearly has way more potential imo, it just made the BTA signing look a waste of funds. Hopefully we still get some use from him. It's stupid to make a verdict on signings before we've even hit Jan. EMC made this thread look silly on Saturday.
He, Rudoni & Bassette could go on to be good/great signings for us.
BTA just hasn't played enough in his preferred position, I'm still not sure what the logic in signing him was.
Binks is great on the ball, not so much defensively, but could work in the right system.
Dovin, again, hasn't played enough to make a judgement and is being messed around.
Raphael hasn't even set foot on the pitch but was cheap as chips anyway.
BTA and Binks are the only ones you can attempt to argue are "misses", the others are just far too premature.
did you wake up from a coma on Sunday Wingy - if so welcome back! looked like a decent charge down the left wing by EMC to me on Saturday - and far from the only time.EMC is a different player to Haji, he does bits for me, he won't go on a charge down the left like Haji does at least I don't I've seen it yet, but he is becoming lethal from a yard out!
Bassette cost £2.5m, should he be ready? To be a devil’s advocate, 1 goal in 12 suggests no.Thing is for the money we’ve paid for some we shouldn’t be waiting over a year for them to “click”. Frankly if you’re dropping more than £3M on a player they should be ready and if not you’ve spent too much.
Bassette is just potential atm. It still remains to be the case that he’s scored the least goals of all of our strikers. Hes also missed the most amount of big chances (Middlesborough, WBA and Swansea).Agreed. No ones mentioned Simms, we're talking about BTA.Bassette is just potential atm. It still remains to be the case that he’s scored the least goals of all of our strikers. Hes also missed the most amount of big chances (Middlesborough, WBA and Swansea).
You’d think our more experienced strikers in the same positions would score.
I have a lot of praise for Bassette, but feel our fans think he is actually the second coming of Gyokeres and have some massive blind spots in his general play. He’s 19 and will get better but we ought to be getting Simms to a position where we can sell him on for big profit.
Last season, Simms proved he can lead the line, I’m not convinced Bassette can at this point in time.

BTA has scored more than both of them! If he got a run in the side upfront he could prove to be a good signing but he’s being messed about. No ones mentioned Simms, we're talking about BTA.
I doubt it. You're just digging around for success stories which is easy to do but many many clubs in this league make awful signings and awful managerial appointments - not sure what your point is on the latter btw.Other teams seem to manage. Just like other teams seem to find managers and coaches who have immediate impact.
Also Rudoni Kitching and EMC are some of the most expensive players ever from L1. We really are an outlier in terms of spend and what we get for it.
Bassettes potential is pretty obvious imo, the fact that someone like Frank Lampard sees it too is good enough for me.BTA has scored more than both of them! If he got a run in the side upfront he could prove to be a good signing but he’s being messed about.
BTA scored 3 goals in a 6 game span and was in and out of the team, he’s not been given the platform to prove his worth.
Bassette has started all but 1-2 games since Robins got sacked and I can’t say that he looks ready to lead the line. Plenty of energy, a nice goal v Sheff U and shown promise, but in the context that we’ve got Simms and BTA playing 2nd and 3rd fiddle, I don’t think it’s wise to start him ahead those 2.

Rudoni and EMC will make quite a few people on this forum look pretty stupid tbh, just as many players before them have. Rudoni has been pretty good all along imo, in a struggling team let’s not forget.
Which signings do you think are bad? You're just swinging all over the place at the moment really. The obsession with League 1 is also weird. The latter is that you say “oh players just cost a lot” but it’s there in black and white that ours cost more than other peoples. No one paid what we did to L1 really. One of our benched signings would be the marquee at most clubs and normally have come from PL another Champ club or a decent league abroad and don’t have to acclimatise as much.
Looking at this outside of the parachute clubs no one is spending like we are to get first team players: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/championship/transfers/wettbewerb/GB2
Kitching, no definitely not. Not sure why he was chased in such a way, but every club misses from time to time. But are they worth £5m a piece? Is Kitching? Are our fringe players worth £2m a time?

Which players do you think are not worth £2 million in today’s market?
I'm not insulting you am i? You are desperate for things to be bad though yet in other threads want us to go on huge winning runs. It doesn't add up.The fact you’re off on insults tells me who is swinging here.
I can’t be any clearer: we have overpaid for our signings. If you look at other clubs I can’t see how you can disagree.
Only BTA, again i think the others will prove this opinion to be rather daft. £2 million isn;t much in todays market. I know you want it to be, but it isn't.Bassette, Dovin, Torp, BTA I think we overpaid for. None have really held down a place. Dovin and Bassette might come good but are very raw for the money.
Need I remind you up until recently these would have been some of our record signings at this level.

I think our squad is decent, outside of our defence really, you don't. Dunno where we go from that really.

What clubs transfer strategy would you want out of interest? Who's blowing us out of the water with all the massive bargains they are picking up?You keep saying that but it is for us. Unless your contention is that the market increased tenfold over night at the exactly same time we got a windfall. Which seems unlikely.
