mark my words — we’ll look back on this as the most important day in CCFCs history. for the first time ever, we own our home. no rent, no landlords, no threats of eviction. just stability, ambition, and a proper foundation to build something special

best day of my city supporting life. we will look back on this as the turning point

...but debt and interest?

No matter how good it is for the club, it is not a freebie. The stadium loses money even with the hotel and casino DK was banging on about. He is going to have to have show collosal commercial nous to increase the non-football income from its present levels.

In its current physical configuration there is limited growth. We get 80-90% capacity for a Championship game. Prem would potentially be 35k or more. The crowd control infrastructure outside the ground needs money spent on it. So far he and Ashley have delivered the low hanging fruit. The next bit is a lot harder

He does seem to be appointing good business people though. He needs to be given the opportunity as so far he has had little say in what happens.

Think probably winning the the L2 play offs and King taking over in 2022 were more important.

Think on both occasions, particularly in L2, the club was on the brink.

A lot more fanfare around yesterday and it was certainly momentous news and we definitely feel more like a proper club now.

It’s probably one of the most ground-breaking days (or ground-securing days, thank you ) in the history of the club since I’ve been following them tbf. Yes we’ve had the FA cup run, and promotion to the championship etc, but as a fundamental foundation to the future revenue and stability of the club it’s probably the biggest day in recent history.

I’m sorry, owning the ground is great and everything, but to say it’s better than securing survival in the Premier League or getting promotion/winning the league is barmy.

I disagree, I think it is.
Those things are temporary. The club just feels more secure now after this news and hopefully promotion is the next milestone

The question is, "are the stadium loses more or less than our rent was"

If the loses are less, then we are still better off, even without increasing the stadium turnover.

Im also sure that Doug will have plenty of plans up his sleeve.

It's clear that's why he brought in the team he has.
When all you are is a matchday tenant how much scope is there to increase revenue no matter how good your commercial team is?

Theyve really got something they can get their teeth into now.

I mean, it’s horses for courses, people enjoy what they enjoy etc.

For me the off-the-pitch stuff pales in comparison to what happens during the games. The rest is just a sideshow to me. I will remember a 7-1 win over QPR in August much more fondly than I will any stadium transaction. I enjoyed it more in the moment too.

Yeah, that's fair enough. But I also remember the despondency of moving outside of the city and of having our opening game of the season cancelled because a load of rhino's had tore the pitch up so delighted that we can forget about all that sort of shit

it was interesting to hear his interview that he said the new football regulator was going to fine us because we didn’t have a 10 year lease.
How the hell do they make that shit up and think it’s going to make clubs in a healthy position?

Are you likely to spend a bit more mopney when at teh stadium, knowing all the revenue goes to the club now? Might help.

Great days, (though I wasn't evena month old in 67), but I think the days I'm referring to and yesterday's announcement are about the clubs very existence, maybe I'm overstating that but I think the club was in peril.

That’s an EFL rule (in place for a while), nothing to do with the new football administrator.

But our rent would be included in the revenue for the arena, so if we're not paying that anymore then arena revenue is reduced and so it's losses increase. Swings and roundabouts

It’s symbolic though. The new stadium should ensure there is long term stability, which has been a thorn in our side since 2011/12.

My only concern is that the costs of maintaining the stadium can easily mount up and impact the playing side of things. However, I’d assume the club has built this into their 5 year plan so shouldn’t have too big an impact.

I’m sure many of us Cov fans have been asked: “who owns the ground now?” The answer to this question is finally, “the club owns it now!”

That imbues a sense of pride in our club.

In my humble opinion, the best day in the club's history was winning the FA cup in 1987! Unforgettable!
