I think it might pay you to start researching some football history.

start with Helenio Herrera and Catenaccio football (winning European Cups and Italian league titles) then move on to Mourinho's masterclass in knocking out Barcelona when at Inter - Throwback to 2010 - Barcelona & Inter XIs when Mourinho knocked Guardiola out of UCL - and perhaps finish off with Greece winning the 2004 Euros. That's to start with.

Let's be absolutely crystal clear what has just happened here.

Sunderland deliberately setup defensively - which is our choice and is a perfectly legitimate football tactic. We then gave you the ball and invited you to break us down and score. We told you that if you give us the ball we will try and catch you on the break.

In the first game you had 75% possession, scored one goal and lost;
In the second game you had 75% possession, scored one goal, and drew

Rather than focussing in on Sunderland perhaps you'd like to ask some questions of your manager and also your players.

We clearly caught you out in the first game but come on - you knew what was likely to happen in the second leg and our French manager out thought your English manager - not the first time that a continental has bamboozled the English at football.

We will likely setup exactly the same way in the final. the question most people will ask Sheffield United is; "can you do any better than coventry?". We are about too see.

But lets not have any of this "Sunderland were lucky" rubbish. As I say football is littered with defensive tactics overcoming the opposition and you've just watched 2 of them.

Perfect game plan from Le Bris.

It was only a few days ago that you were dribbling that your club was one of the worst run in the country, and there were no depths that it hadn't plummeted to. All of this to a support base whose club was exiled from its own city twice in the last 15 or so years, and genuinely looked to many of us that it would stop existing soon. Many treated the Check Trade final as a goodbye of sorts.

So please, take your ludicrous sense of entitlement and lack of perspective, and fuck the fuck off. Then when you've finished fucking off, stop whatever it is you're doing, and fuck off again.

Absolutely everything was in your favour - yet your players and your manager made a complete balls of it.

Now your crying on because "little old Sunderland didn't play properly. They played all defensive and we didn't want them to do that".

You were beaten fair and square. You can have no complaints at all.

Anyway, things to be getting on with.

Except the league position was in your favour, and the amount of games won in the season.

Feel comfortable with what happened. The Semi-Final last season took me weeks to get over due to us actually winning the game in the most incredible way and then having it taken off us. Luton hurt but I can accept the lottery of penalties, and we would have won in 90 minutes if Hamer had stayed on.

We achieved more than even the most optimistic supporter could have expected when Frank arrived. It was a free hit for me last night and I take comfort from the fact that we are miles behind Sheff United and how I would react to a third successive Wembley defeat. That's not to say we wouldn't have won but I think we need an upgrade on "The deck" next season, FL getting his players in and moving a few on and it could be another great season.

This league is mad and but for the money in the Prem I would prefer the excitement of the last three seasons than a season like the bottom 3 in the Prem have endured this season. Take a look at Luton as well, losing becomes a habit.

Really proud of the team but we need an injection of pace in midfield to shift and carry that pull quickly. Simms and Wright can be moved on and find an aggressive striker (easier said than done!) but that pair are scared of their own shadows. EMC was immense last night as was Sakamoto, we just need a tweak here and there.

It will be an interesting summer, onwards and upwards. Keep the faith. I was at Barnet away like Clive Eakin, that is rock bottom!

I still can't believe how poor Sunderland were and how defensively they set up over the two legs. It worked don't get me wrong and congratulations but I really hope they get absolutely battered at Wembley against a team that will take the chances that we inexplicably couldn't. I would have preferred a team came out and absolutely destroyed us to get to the final rather than smash and grab using park the bus tactics. So yeah I think it's going to take me a good few days to get over this one.

Their tactics for the first leg were as we predicted and to be fair they executed it very well - with a couple of gifts thrown in.
They weren’t so composed defensively last night as we ran them ragged.
By contrast when they put us under pressure around and in our goal area we defended not just amicably but with style.
Such a pity we dropped our guard with the very last action of the game.

what the fuck are you talking about

You played shite, your tactics almost cost you and if you play like that in the final then South Yorkshire will be party central.

Well we've all saved a couple of hundred quid and the humiliation of O'Hare banging in the winner. I can quite honestly say I won't be watching the final as it's one game I'd like both teams to lose.
At least we will have the pleasure of watching the winners get smashed by the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford and the added bonus of beating the losers twice next season.

I haven't interacted with you on here yet so here goes

Stick your dribbly little ramblings and 'woe is me' bollocks right up your arse

The usual fucking victim mentality from a Sunderland twat, youre going to get a new arsehole torn at Wembley and it will be glorious. See you next season for our revenge, and just remember you'll always live in a slum in Newcastles shadow

Feeling surprisingly positive tbh, shame it had to against them lot in particular but I thought we were excellent last night - We should have got that game wrapped up in 90 minutes but we didn’t and Sunderland took their big chance, that is football

The jibes from no-hoper clubs like Stoke and The Albion are hilarious, and a few blues fans been messaging me this morning considering they don’t care about us - We will sort them out next season and one day have the last laugh, as the club tweeted last night ‘This is a City rejuvenated and on the rise’ - Roll on August

I've got no issue with the outcome. All I want is our players to give their all and to try and win the game and we largely did that over the 2 games. It was our own mistakes that cost us the tie, nothing to do with a tactical masterclass. Thankfully we didn't lose on a deflection or controversial decision or god forbid, a penalty shootout.

We didn't get the rub of the green when it came to the big moments of the tie and that's unfortunate but there's no point feeling bitter or upset about it. Sunderland fans will know they were in a game and the moments fell their way. That's football. We can enjoy our summer now and go again next season!

The masterclass would have been a shambles if we hadn't gifted them 2 goals here. The Sunderland fans would have been bleating about how shit they were etc. But, we did gift them the goals, and they won the tie. That's fair enough, it's football, can't win them all.

Come on Rob - you posted on here you were defo going to lose! Have some respect and understand the fans are hurting and when you watch the game it wasn’t a pure tactical masterclass - you also needed some luck.

good luck in the final - but you too need to find some humility!

I’ll tell you what, I’m not hurting as much as a set of fans who have to watch the footballing equivalent of slurry every week. Le Bris football is about as entertaining as a slab of lard.

Watching Sunderland play like that week in week out would test any fans resolve. Without exception all non City fans I've spoken to have said that we were the better team by a distance. We just didn't put away the chances over the 2 games and made a couple of costly errors.
I have no interest in the final other than I wish that there was a scenario where both of them could lose.

Look everybody, it was a great header in the dying seconds and we didn't defend it well. That's football. They looked beaten and then that happens from a player determined to try and make a difference, and he did.
It's our own fault for failing to take our chances. There were enough to suggest we should have. And that's football.
Yes the rub of the green elluded us, and we were the better side by far but if you don't score then you are always subject to something going against you.
They gave their all, something to be proud of. Wright was never really in the game unfortunately. Next season only needs a few tweaks to make us a promotion favourite. It would have been too early had we gone up. So, on reflection I'm happy we get to go again with a full pre season under Lampard and a bit of backing from King. The sides coming down are abismal so it will be a very open league next season and our best chance to make it happen.
Cheer up everybody, we are in a good place.......

We've been in or/and around the playoffs for 4 seasons in a row now.

If we keep doing that we will go up. Probably without the need to go to Wembley.

We'll get back there one day. This season has made me more confident than ever.

We have a decent owner (despite what half of this place says)
We have a decent manager (despite what a quarter of this place says)
We have a great reputation around the country. Everyone see's us as a club on the up (despite the media hype, Birmingham and Wrexham fans would give their left bollock to be us)
We have PL levels of support (better supported than almost a quarter of the PL this season)
We have a global superstar as our manager (who cares so much about us that he was close to tears last night)

Good, ambitious players will want to play for us. Frank will be a deciding factor for some of these players. Rising foreign stars will have grown up watching him, and will want to learn from him. However (and I hate to say this because I love the man), no foreign stars had heard of Mark Robins. That is just a sad fact of life
