I still can't believe how poor Sunderland were and how defensively they set up over the two legs. It worked don't get me wrong and congratulations but I really hope they get absolutely battered at Wembley against a team that will take the chances that we inexplicably couldn't. I would have preferred a team came out and absolutely destroyed us to get to the final rather than smash and grab using park the bus tactics. So yeah I think it's going to take me a good few days to get over this one.

Sunderland set up perfectly. We’ve known for weeks that’s how to beat us. Got to give them some credit.

I thought last night was a lot more open, but their concentration levels was incredible. We couldn’t have pulled that off

Thought it was bollocks they 'did a job' on us in the first leg and it's even more bollocks after last night. They got lucky, that's it. They'll get pasted in the final and normal service will resume next season.

I'm sure it was tactical genius but I just hate to see the game played that way. A number of texts from supporters of other clubs called it a cruel way to lose and I agree wholeheartedly.

First leg they did a job on us, but were still extremely fortunate to get a victory.

Last night they were second best by a considerable distance, and very lucky to get to extra time.

Overall, I thought we looked the better team (which we probably are, just), though with very obvious weaknesses, but ultimately we lost due to an individual error, which kind of sums our season up.

If we're being honest, neither side is close to good enough for promotion without the lottery of the playoffs.

I’m not convinced they set up perfectly, had a great game plan or played well. If we offered more of a threat over 2 legs and took our chances, we’d have beat them comfortably over both legs. They are bang average. But we are average too. Yes. Last nights performance was something to be proud of but let’s face some facts.

Our strikers have been goal shy and we have conceded far too many goals this season, half of them from our own mistakes. I don’t think we’re meant to be a playoff team but got there because of 9 in 10 wins run and other teams being inconsistent.

I also think we don’t need a mass overhaul. Get the deadwood out, recruit 4/5 new players with Grimes, Rudi, EMC and co and go again.

Already over it, Sheffield United are so far ahead of us, I could only see a defeat in the final, but I would have been there cheering them on regardless. Le Bris set them up well, stop us playing and try to nick a winner at the CBS which they did, and they tried to do similar again last night but with a bit more attacking intent, though they played into our hands at time and left space for us to exploit. They couldn't seem to get going once we scored and really we should have won it at the end of normal time.

I think our tactics need to be improved/tweaked. We are too predictable especially from corners & in open play we can be too slow in moving the ball and only pass our way forwards. I also want to see us sign a ball carrying midfielder.

They set up perfectly for the type of game.

It doesn't take a genius to watch us all season and recognise we struggle to put teams away or break them down. It was the same under Robins.

Feel like I'm over it but Luton took a week to hit home so we'll see.

Such a shame it was all decided by that back pass in the 1st leg.

I expect that a good number of players will move on and we'll be rebuilding again in August.

Do you mean they haven’t already been promoted? I never thought I’d say this but I hope Sheff Utd batter them.

They definitely set up to keep it right away and given they had a lead did the same again. However, you can’t seat that deep and think you’ll get away with it. If Wright scores that header or a ball bounces a different way from a cross then we’re through.

Things haven't gone quite as well for us since mid March as the did Jan - March.
I wonder if what hes seen more recently has made Lampard change his mind about certain players and lengthened the surplus to requirements list?

Yeh same. Hope Hamer gets a hattrick. Never thought I'd be supporting the Blunts so hard.

I don't know. Mason-Clark and Torp were big misses and Thomas was out too. I think Torp would have given that bit more vision over Sheaf in the playoff games certainly.

We were the better team. Think too much being made of Sunderland's genius gameplan.

We play like this most games and we're we will win alot.

They are not that good a side. Us being a bit more clinical combined with the roll of the ball going for us and we win easily. This tactical genius stuff is just pap. It’s basically two banks of four that play ultra defensively. You know you’ll get chances playing us as our full backs don’t defend.

I think respect needs to be given to Sunderland. Take away from the fact they are a massive historied club who deserve their shot back at the big time, they had a gameplan and stuck to it. We played by far the better football and had more of the chances - but the best team goes both ways - in your ability to defend and work off the ball, aswell as attack - which I thought Sunderland were superb.

I'm at peace with it - but my strongest emotions still directed towards Haji. You can argue about service and this and that, but truth is on the biggest game of his career so far at Cov, he's not shown up. I can maybe forgive some of his clumsiness and the odd miss here and there, but his application of himself was non-existent. I'd bet some of the players will feel the same.

Not sure they set up perfectly.. we handed them the game at home and missed a glorious chance in the 90th to not win the game last night 2-0

Absolutely we have. That’s our problem. But it’s not down to some ethereal tactical guru stuff from Le Piss.

After a nervy first 15 mins we took control. They did defend well, but once again got lucky numerous times with the ball pinning around their box and just not landing right for us. Guess we must be flattered that a team that finished above us played such a defensive gameplan home and away to win the tie (and only just). Would they have played that way against Bristol City? I don't think so.

Yeah, I don't get this "perfect set-up" to be honest.

Yes, they did set up with the right tactic, but it took an absolutely horror of a back pass in the 88th minute for them to win the game.

They set-up for a draw, thinking they might either get lucky, or that they would really fancy their chances at home.

The way they played relies on huge slices of luck too. They got the luck, unfortunately.

We are lead to believe that luck evens itself up over a season, but in my eyes it hasn’t.
The fortunes were with Sunderland & massively so , as we outplayed them over both games & came away with nothing to show for our efforts.
I truly believe that if the boot was on the other foot , you would hear them crying from Cov !

I am deflated as most of us are, especially having scored to level things up. However, the team did themselves proud and showed character. With a summer transfer window with Frank in charge we will be stronger next year and have a better crack at it. His coaching team already have the players who some thought were crap playing better, but there's still room for improvement in certain areas on the pitch which needs new recruits.

Their was no luck involved.
Their big chance came, they took it.
Ours came and Wright put the cherry on top of his shit cake of a performance with a pathetic effort.

Flat as a pancake this morning - even the dog's a bit miserable. This will pass. Don't know what it was like to watch but it was an exciting listen. No doubt Frank's well down the road of revamping the forward line.
The saddest thing is realising that Clive has covered his last Sky Blues game. As is often the fase, he won't he fully appreciated until someone steps in to his shoes and takes the microphone. God save us from either Rob Gurney or Lorna Bailey. Lorna was particularly bad last night. Just drivel. Unlistenable.
