the more I believe we will be challenging for promotion!! It may be just elitism, but I really can not see us not finishing Top 4 - 6 easily.
Like the players added, realise we need 2/3 more, but I genuinelythink we will get them.
Please don't Shout, I am happy in my world.

we were top 6 for a long time when we came downt hough, people forget that

smiley isnt saying its gonna happen for ure but that he thinks there is a big chance just like there was in 2002

i agree smiley,i think we will challenge at the top end, people are discounting likes of bell, baker, macdonald and i think they are wrong to do that.

Hope so fella, i can not help but feel that way looking at the other teams.....sick of all the slagging off on here to be honest, so nice to retreat into my own little world and dream of a good season.

Bell is a coward, forget him, he'll probably be crocked once he splits a nail. The squad at the moment is still not capable of the goals required to make a real impression. Signings needed, don't kid yourselves !!

I think people are underestimating the sides in that league, teams like Notts County and Yeovil aren't going to roll over for us because we are a bigger club.

Yeah come on even if we don't get 1st surely it's top six for us in this league. I'm so carried away just put a Tenner on us to beat Yovile!

I can't remember us being top 6???? 1969-1970 would seem to be the last time and that was 14 years before I was born.

Yeah you're wrong, we didn't challenge and haven't been top 6.

2001-2002 11th
2002-2003 20th
2003-2004 12th
2004-2005 19th
2005-2006 8th

I'll leave it there on the high note.

There's some optimists on here,i think our defence looks weak if Keogh leaves ,I reckon midtable if we're lucky & don't get to many injuries ,& i'm afraid the gates at the Ricoh will reflect this & no Bigi to cheer us up.

We were in top 6 for most of the season and then had a dreadful end to the season and finished 11th I think that is what he means

you are missing the point

i said we challenged for most our first season in championship,we were in top 6 for a long time that season

so when people say league one wont be easy just like championship they should not rule out our first season being one where we have a chance of going up straight away

2 seasons ago the squad was neither good enough or big enough.

We have since see 2 years of fire sales (or should I say give aways)

Already this year we have seen Clingan, Cranie and Platt go with the probability of Bigi and Keogh, so signing 3 players is a drop in the ocean we need 4 players on top of replacements for those that have or will leave.

You can not see us not finishing top 4-6 easily?

Had to read that 4 times just to make sure I didn't not understand what you didn't mean.

Based on what, 3 free transfers? Huddersfield spent millions for 3 years before going up: we lose our best players, sign some old crocks, and think we're somehow superior? There's going to be a lot of folk coming down to earth with a bang, L1 is full of battlers but with no little quality.

Think about the 3 teams who came up last year: were they better than us? Uh-huh! So we have a much weaker side-not to mention squad-now: stands to reason that the teams capable of getting up will still be able to wipe the floor with us IMO.

We were challenging for the first half of season down, then we cashed in on players. A similar pattern is almost certainly the very best we can hope for with these bastards at the helm.

I see no harm with feeling positive about next season, why shouldn't we? Theres a big difference between feeling positive about top 6 and expecting it. if it doesn't turn out then so be ot

I'm definetly more optimistic about the forthcoming season, now that we've signed some players however, I don't think it'll be that easy for us to get top six so easily. Every home match we play will be a cup game for our opponents.

I've seen Plymouth in these lower leagues a few times recently, and if we are to be challenging this season it's going to be one hell of a battle!!
No one will roll over!!

Agree, but I go into every season thinking that it'll be different this time. Wouldn't love football half as much if I didn't

Well be fine. We have a decent side ffs what is it with people on here? Come on a bit of optimism never hurt anybody. We are in Div 3 we have some good players and we have some players that will learn from last year and come through stronger. It's not bloody rugby league all this talk of " it's a physical league bollox" footballs a physical game these players are used to it. I've been to see Bournemouth play quite abit over the past season and the league is not that physical, dire yes, but physical? Not in the true sense of the word. If our players play with heart and commitment well be fine.

No based on the fact that we have a squad of mostly championship level players, we have signed 3 additional decent players and the youth from last year, have played a season and are better for it. There is not 6 or so sides in that division with more quality than us.
Most of that division have been there for years some even below that level. I haven't said we will win all games, i just believe that we are good enough to get promotion.

To be fair, the team we'll be putting out in late August won't much resemble the team of May. That may not necessarily be a bad thing. I'm not convinced we'll walk the league, I'm sure we'll be called to account on more than one occasion (just think of Norwich's opener a couple of seasons ago). However, if (and I mean IF) we're winning more than we're losing then I will be happier than I have been going to games for a while. I honestly believe we have the fan base, and that a better win ratio would increase gates considerably. We'll get there.

That's what many clowns thought when we were relegated from the Premiership, and look how that turned out.

It turned out badly but an often overlooked fact is that in the first season it was only the ridiculous decision to put Jim Smith into the management team that cost a play-off place. I haven't checked but I think we lost 7 of the last 8 matches having been in the play offs all season.

We should be able to get a top 6 finish this time around.

The more I stare at the fixture list the question that comes to mind is "Can we complete all of those fixtures"
